Trump and RNC to ban all media from GOP conventionhttps://www.cnn.com/2020/08/01/politics/rnc-charlotte-press/index.html
(CNN)The dramatically scaled-down Republican National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, will be closed to the press, a convention spokesperson and Republican official familiar with the plans tell CNN. Reporters will not be allowed on site as RNC delegates vote to formally nominate President Donald Trump as the 2020 Republican presidential nominee, but the vote will be livestreamed, the Republican official said. The restriction is unprecedented in modern American political history, but Republican officials said they were forced to limit attendance due to social distancing restrictions imposed by the governor of North Carolina. "Given the health restrictions and limitations in place within the state of North Carolina, we are planning for the Charlotte activities to be closed press Friday, August 21 -- Monday, August 24," the RNC convention spokesperson said in a statement Saturday. he doesn't want anyone getting a photo of the empty arena?
I don't have this one figured out at all. |

5. Another thing I thought of is he wants to use this as a kick start for
"Trump TV." Since that was his plan in 2016, it's reasonable to assume he still plans to fall back on it.
If he is the only media there, he can find a way to put more of the money in his pocket too. |

29. Anybody who attends the convention in person in Charlotte is nuts.
Our highest numbers for cases, deaths, and cases/10,000 population are in Mecklenburg County. Their numbers are almost double the numbers in Wake County, where Raleigh (the capital city) is located. Population of about 1.1 million for each county.
For the Republicans stupid enough to attend, expect to see a spike in Covid numbers for the communities where they live once they go home. Dummies. Real dummies. But, we already knew they were stupid. Right? |

17. Fine, media do not cover the convention then.
I do not know what they are hoping to accomplish but let them have their mystery convention and do not publish anything or talk about it. Focus on the Democrats and what they are offering for the country. Talk about real plans and goals and what actual people want and need. Just go on with life and leave the rethugs to their pathetic party.

19. I see the logic
If I were the head of the RNC, I wouldn’t want hours’ worth of quotable embarrassments available for the media to rerun 3 months before an election, either. Plus—it would give Democrats about 45 minutes of Trump incoherency to quote (and for Rachel to laugh at) on a daily basis. They would only doing us a favor, since Trump could read from The Cat In The Hat, and his base would declare him an erudite genius.

First the Trump campaign goes dark on August ad buys. Now this. Something is clearly afoot. I believe there is an internal GOP movement brewing to oust him from the ticket.

23. Media will sneak in... DISGUISES!
Trump has banned all media from 'his' convention. ( He never banned his own media though...)
One thing I am sure of, is that the media, the reporters and spycam technologists will find a way.s The best one is using disguises.... Rachel Maddow wearing a fake moustache will never get recognized by those eagle eyed Tea Party delegates, the masters of sign spelling. Joe Scarborough and his band only need change their name for the weekend. "Dixon Mills" could be 'Nixon's Thrills Quartet" The Associated Press?.... American Pizza! Handing out coupons for free pizza if a delegate can answer three simple Trump questions! CNN, this is the easy one. They just need some name badges' that say 'CNN - Convention News Negation Squad' and can roam looking for fake news reporters and worse, foreign press spies like BBC, France 24 and the commie-based Fox News ( who Hillary finally destroyed using the pizza coupon ploy). My thoughts turn to Peter Sellers, whose Inspector Clouseau would certainly figure out the very best disguise. |

They’ll relent and let “some” media in. This will be their excuse to only let their media in and maybe a couple token legit media.
