DUer running for office needs DU support, pleaseWhen I became aware that more votes are given to our Presidential (or Governor, depending on the election cycle), Senators, Congressmen and Congresswomen, and all state candidates if we run for office locally, I chose to refocus my anger, fear, and disgust at Republicans and T. Speaking back to my fear at making myself a target of a very red county, I ran for New Mexico State Representative against an ALEC ‘Star Legislator’ 4 years ago. Two years ago I had two minor brain surgeries to treat successfully my Trigeminal Neuralgia so I didn’t run. When I ‘saw’ Omaha Steve, the first DUer I knew to actually step up, step out and run for office, I felt hope…and I have needed hope since I joined DU in 2003, Iraq War through Trump. Otherwise, I have had those moments when I was curled up in a fetal position, so overwhelmed with how awful our world, our nation has been. I spent the past few years recruiting other Democrats to run locally and this is the first year in over 20 years, we have a full ticket. This year with our own mini-Trump County Commissioner founding Cowboys for Trump, gaining ‘fame’ being on Fox and meeting with Trump. He’s the man retweeted by Trump who said, “The only good democrat is a dead democrat” ….now his racism was revealed when he said, “…urged people who support performances of the Black national anthem at football games to "go back to Africa." https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/local/new-mexico/2020/07/28/cowboys-trump-founder-couy-griffin-defends-go-back-africa-comments/5525905002/ I told everyone, including Planned Parenthood, educators’ unions, labor unions, Sierra Club that I was running a combined campaign for ALL Democratic candidates, up and down ballot, but especially for our Congresswoman Xochitl Torres Small Xochitl is tied in polls with the same ALEC star who was my opponent in current polls. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/exclusive-poll-shows-yvette-herrell-and-xochitl-torres-small-tied-in-swing-new-mexico-house-district-rematch Xochitl is also listed as the NUMBER ONE most competitive Congressional races, “…1. New Mexico 2nd (Democratic-held, previous ranking 5): Rep. Xochitl Torres Small is Democrats’ most vulnerable member of Congress right now because she’s representing a conservative, mostly rural district that voted for Trump by 10 points. And she’ll face a rematch against former Republican state representative Yvette Herrell, who lost by just 3,722 votes in 2018. But like all the Democrats on this list, Torres Small is doing what she needs to do to have a chance to hang on.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/07/17/fix-house-rankings/ This is who I’m working hard to elect...not just me. I’m doing all I can to elect our next President, Senator and Congresswoman…as well as NM State Senator (me!), State Representatives, County Commissioner, Clerk and Treasurer. Please help me with a donation. I can’t hold my typical fundraising events (because of Covid) and, more than ever, I am relying on old friends and DU. 31. Congresswoman Xochitl Small is amazing
She’s a water-rights attorney running against a high school graduate who inherited her real estate wealth from her father and wants to privatize and sell our public lands. Xochitl has done a lot for our nation. https://torressmall.house.gov/media/press-releases/torres-small-leads-final-push-protect-public-lands-new-mexico-and-nationwide

40. Congratulations on having a full ticket!!! When folks know there is someone to vote for
they will vote for them!
I live in Fort Worth TX and for far too long the only Democrats on the ballot were the top of the ticket spots and the occasional State Rep and our one lonely Democratic County Commissioner In 2018 our judicial spots were not full but this year they are. Best of luck on your race as well as all the others. Are you in Las Cruces by any chance? I have friends out there, good Dems who used to live here. |

I’m glad you understand how much that means to have a full ticket... I think it’s hard to understand if you are used to it... and why I’m so excited about it.
I’m about 80 miles north east of Las Cruces; I live in the canyons outside of Alamogordo. I love where I live... except for the fundamentalist, right-wing, racist, Republicans. |

48. Hey, duhneece! Best of luck!
I love NM, a great blue state in that red ocean out West.
Have visited there at least ten times, seven of them to visit my son, who owns Binary Circuits over in Silver City in Grant County. He's a major tech expert, a hardcore Democrat co-something of the Grant County Democratic Party (he LUVS Xochitl Small). He's done community organizing, helped build the public kitchen, fixes servers, and does fundraising for southern New Mexico non-profits, gets grants and trains interns. He's trying to build a self-sustainable community there, hates those Cowboys who come trotting into town, armed. You can look up Binary Circuits on Google, if you'd like to check him out. You do great work, and I hope you stay in government service. ![]() ![]() |
