'Boogaloo Boy' who worked at my girlfriend's office was arrested today. He seemed normal.

This guy worked at my girlfriend's office for many years. She says he seemed like a normal, family guy. He was always nice to her when she interacted with him. Big dude.

Alleged ‘Boogaloo Boy' Arrested Over Threats to Top South Bay Health Official

Investigators say they found explosives and hundreds of guns in the family home of Gilroy man Alan Viarengo.

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/south-bay/alleged-boogaloo-boy-arrested-over-threats-to-top-south-bay-health-official/2355341/

A Gilroy man who police say is tied to the far-right, anti-government Boogaloo Movement was arrested last week in connection to 24 threatening letters, some containing telltale Boogaloo slogans and imagery, sent to Santa Clara County Health Officer Dr. Sara Cody over the past five months, according to court and police records reviewed by NBC Bay Area.

Officers from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office arrested Alan Viarengo, 55, last week, seizing a large cache of firearms and explosives from his family’s home, according to a bail motion filed by Santa Clara County prosecutors. Detectives found more than 100 firearms, including potential assault rifles, explosives, thousands of rounds of ammunition, tools for manufacturing ammunition, and confederate flags, according to the court records.

He was charged with felony counts of stalking and harassing a public official and has not yet entered a plea.

Alleged Boogaloo members were charged earlier this year in the murder of Federal Security Officer Dave Underwood at Oakland’s Federal Building and the ambush-style killing of Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller in Ben Lomand.

Viarengo also sent harassing letters to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office and Gutzwiller’s widow replete with Boogaloo slogans and imagery, according to the police report.

Damn good turn of phrase there, Hunter. I had an uncle who lost his thumb to a hay baler and a good friend who was eaten by a John Deere combine(combine 1/friend 0).
I expect, however, that their straight forward encounters were less socially disruptive and potentially confrontational than herds of imported, hybrid "geeks" eating up all the grass down to the roots, ruining the prairie for regular ranchers.

This is, Parody. I apologize in advance.

Now that they have him, police may want to really interrogate that guy. As I read more, it sounds like he had access to an undercover gun mill. He was making his own bullets.

It popped up in my feed.

From the local Pajaronian: https://pajaronian.com/gilroy-man-accused-of-boogaloo-affiliation/

"The charges are related to what the sheriff’s office incident report described as Viarengo’s “relentless and repeated” letters to Cody expressing his displeasure with Cody’s pandemic strategy and what he saw as government overreach. Starting in early April, Viarengo sent a total of 24 anonymous, hand-written letters to Cody at the county’s public health office in San Jose. The letters became “increasingly aggressive, offensive and threatening,” reads the sheriff’s incident report. They also became increasingly specific about Cody’s personal information—including her home address—and were laced with profanity.

The first letter, received at Cody’s office on April 9, included a sketch of a hand with the middle finger extended. The letter included degrading names directed toward Cody, expressed anti-China sentiments, mocked law enforcement and vowed to not abide the health order, reads the sheriff’s report."

Anti-government, anti-China, anti-health. That's what Trump is creating.

Went looking to see what happened in that case. In this article from July 28th, it says that the FBI had been helping with the investigation and that the town of Gilroy has not released the report or the videos. Supposedly because there are so many videos they have to clean up.

The shooter Santino William Legan was a 19 year old from a family that was heavy into boxing. He used an AK47.

There may be some experienced undercover police among them, but not simple adherents that are cops. But other rightwing groups likely have cops as members.
