NJ-03: Kim raises $1 million in 62 days for NJ-3 re-election bid
Freshman Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) is raising money at a light-speed pace, bringing in $1 million during the first two months of the current fundraising quarter.
The New Jersey Globe previously reported that Kim had raised $509,241 during the first 36 days of the third quarter
In the 26 days since then, the South Jersey Democrat has doubled that as he seeks re-election to a second term in New Jerseys 3rd district.
Kim has now raised more than $5.5 million since taking office in January 2019, without accepting any corporate PAC money.
Kim faces Republican David Richter, a former construction company executive who had largely self-financed his primary campaign.
Richter does not have to release his 3rd quarter fundraising numbers until October 15.
Early news of Kims fundraising success could help dissuade donors from putting their wallets behind Richter.
Richter reported loaning $681,787 to his campaign through June 30 and had $122,942 cash-on-hand. He reported raising a total of $807,564, according to his Federal Election Commission filing
Kim had reported cash-on-hand of $3,508,792 as of June 30.
