Observation on TV ads in SC

The majority of ads we are seeing are for either Lindsey Graham or his challenger Jaime Harrison. The race is a statistical tie.
The Dem ads drive home Graham’s hyper-support of Trump, someone he called a “xenophobic, race-baiting bigot” and a clown in the 2016 primaries. Every ad includes Trump and Graham, asking “What happened to Senator Graham?”

The Graham ads, on the other hand, never mention Trump, and try to tie Harrison to AOC and Pelosi (even though a Senator would have no real involvement with any of them.)

What does it say about Trump’s popularity and campaign when a Republican doesn’t want to be tied to him in deep red South Carolina?

1. Charleston media market...

We get a ton of Nancy Mace spots... Joe Cunningham is a very bad man crap... and many more from Joe Cunningham... appears Joe has a huge advantage over mace cash wise. We also get all the Lady G good, Jamie bad ads. Both mace & graham have horrid spots, it's like they want to lose. Dems ads seem to focus of the positive attributes of the respective dem candidates, whereas the repub ads are all negative.

2. I'm in Columbia

Numerous Adair Burroughs ads, and not a single one yet from Joe “you lie!” Wilson. Guess he is saving his money for the home stretch.

3. Many of our neighbors...

and acquaintances are repubs, most of the country club variety, haven't spoken with any of them about politics since the pandemic hit. Prior to that, many voted for & supported Joe Cunningham... most were Jeb Bush supporters & hate trump with a passion.

My wife used to get some political info from them, as she plays in a couple of tennis leagues, she stopped playing when some refused to heed simple covid-19 protocols.

4. Country club republicans

they probably love Mark Sanford, which would reinforce their dislike of Trump.

That is one thing I will give trumpie full credit for: by causing Sanford to lose the primary he gave us a good Dem in the 1st District.

5. They're not fond of Sanford.

Most are friends of Jenny Sanford, Mark's ex-wife. Jenny & the ex of Ted Turner's son Teddy, banded together to try & get Stephen Colbert's sister, Elizabeth Colbert Busch elected. Same thing with Joe Cunningham, who now has Mark's seat in congress. There is a huge divide between some of Charleston repubs & the midland & upstate repubs.

6. Good to hear

I’ve met Elizabeth Busch several times.
I really hope Cunningham can hold onto his seat.

I’m assuming the GOP will go ahead after this election and gerrymander SC to have two Dem seats so they can protect their other miscreants.
