Take the "Spot The Troll" Test / By The Clemson University Media Forensics Hub

https://spotthetroll.org/

The quiz where YOU examine images of real social media content and decide whether it's from a legitimate account or an internet troll.

A brilliant quiz by Prof. ⁦Darren Linvill and his team of researchers.

It's a challenging & heightening test of your social media skills.
(And it's more difficult than most people think)

Take the test yourself! 👍

YOUR SCORE:
6/8
That makes you:
smarter than you were.
The vast majority of social media accounts you will engage with online are real people voicing genuine opinions. Be wary, however, because professional trolls do exist and they aren’t necessarily the accounts you may think they are. Many professional trolls want to be your friend; they want to pull you in a new and sometimes divisive direction. Be wary of who you friend online and which messages you decide to repost. On social media, just like in real life, not all strangers have your best interest at heart.

I rarely put personal information on my profile. The people I want to know about me, already mostly do. I don't think just because you are strongly for one idea or ideology, that you are a troll.

I understand that they were talking about fake accounts and the examples were supposedly Russian troll accounts but some of the content was what I see from actual friends that I know personally that mirrors what they call troll accounts.

where they show PoC supporting positions (far-right or anti-Dem left) that are not typical for that demographic.

They also do this with attractive women, hip young people, soccer moms etc - to promote the idea that such views are appealing and held by a diverse group of people - and not just angry old white guys.
