If you're not in a group that has had to petition the SCOTUS to recognize your humanity...

then please show some empathy to those who are in such a group and are rightfully anxious at this moment in our nation's history.

Thank you.

3. I don't know which "group" you belong to. Just tell me when the march is and what color to wear?

Green shirts?
Black shirts?
Pink shirts?
Rainbow shirts?
Red shirts?
I've got a closet full.

If they target your group successfully, I'm sure they'll get to one of mine before long. May as well go together.

4. Al Giordano blocked me for saying essentially that.

I pointed out that if he depended on SCOTUS for his basic rights, he might not be so sanguine about RBG's death and better understand the panic. He became furious and insisted that he depended as much on SCOTUS as people of color, LGBTQ, and women. While certainly white men have an interest in what happens in the court and its rulings affect them, they do not depend on the court for equal rights as the rest of Americans do. In fact a right-wing court is dedicated to propping up their privilege.

He was waving his finger at not only people who were panicked but those talking about fighting. He insisted a 4-4 court was a greater threat, which is the GOP line to a t.

I thought Giordano's statement to be reactionary and I told him he could go ahead and block me and that I was unfollowing him anyway. He wrote a reply and then immediately blocked me, a coward's move. I have zero respect for him now.

Your OP is right on. Too many Americans face grave times. And I'm fully aware there are many people whose human rights are far more jeopardized than mine. I think of immigrants locked up on the board, trans Americans who are legally denied protection under the law, and the tremendous erosion of civil rights for people of color. We've lost the court over this administration, and the consequences are disastrous.
