Same as with my old home state of TN. It starts with that goddamn, fundy religion and devolves from there. When these cretens say "traditional values", they mean 15th century traditional values.

I have lived here for the last 19 years and I'll be damned if I know. My guess is that they truly believe the lies they have been told their whole life about Democrats, liberals, socialists, etc. I just have to keep reminding myself that there are plenty of GOP nutcases in other states too. Plus a new crop of Q-Anon cultists running for various national offices across the country.

I am used to being a liberal minority. I grew up in Utah, lived in Nebraska and now Kentucky. I was a Republican when I was went to college. I began distancing myself from the GOP because the many "ultra-conservative" stools in public office and in my own workplace repelled me with their noxious b.s.

Once free of the influence of those clowns and in graduate school I began to warm to the Democratic party. Now I am a proud Democrat and progressive.

and was Board Certified for 10 years. He and some others formed their own board because of a rule change in the Board. So call him an asshole, which I regularly do but he really did pass the boards and he served a residency at Duke so he was well educated and trained.

I researched this to be sure because I have worked with medical stuff for years. The biggest advantage of Board Certification is admitting privileges at hospitals, and the extra work required is and asset to the physician.

His fake board is not an accepted board. So this is Bullshit.

Not sure why you are promoting this, but do some research. He is not worthy of your defense

I surely hope you don't buy this "I created my own board because I was annoyed by a requirement from the official board" when you seek medical care.

The strain of COVID that hit NY was traced to the COVID outbreak in Italy.
Trump did not restrict travel from Europe till March 11.

Fun fact Sweden has a pop of 10.23 million
Ny state 19.45 million.
They both have the same immunity rate about 22 % . Estimates are 60-70% for herd Immunity.

Sweden's per capita death rate was 35 per 100,000 as of May 15. Meanwhile, Denmark's death rate was 9.3 per 100,000, Finland's 5.2 and Norway's 4.7. All three neighboring countries enacted stricter ...

Kentucky has a higher positivity rate then NY as of yesterday

Long overdue IMHO. Paul loves to overstate his opinion while flashing his medical doctor credentials. He never says he practices as an ophthalmologist (not putting down ophthalmologists in general). I think he also suffers from a Napoleon Complex. He is actually an inch shorter than Napoleon.

For context:
"Napoleon Complex" is a theorized inferiority complex normally attributed to people of short stature. It is characterized by overly-aggressive or domineering social behavior, such as lying about earnings, and carries the implication that such behavior is compensatory for the subject's physical or social shortcomings.

Japan and South Korea have obesity rates around 4%. In the United States the obesity rate is 40%. The United States has been doing a poor job with health care for a long time. Obesity is one of the pre-existing conditions that makes people more susceptible to having more complicated bouts of COVID-19.

not having a government-mandated lockdown. (This was part of his argument that "something, something, Big Brother takin' mah FREEDOM!)

What he fails to mention is that Japanese culture is famous for emphasizing collective interdependence.

Wearing a mask, is no big deal over there. It's expected when you have a cold. So, when the government made that, and other, recommendations to avoid spreading the virus, most people listened and complied.

since he not only slept through all the lectures on epidemiology, he is also incapable of seeing the difference in spread from state to state in the US, depending on how proactive the state governor was.

Even the WaPo noticed the difference between NM and surrounding states, even other low population density states. Everybody should be noticing Vermont.

Do note that the party of the governor is irrelevant. What is relevant is whether or not said governor is crawling up the asses of men like Paul and the pResident.

Paul is just stunning in his utter ignorance.

A foot in the mouth is a natural.

Intellectually, a group of people (South Koreans) cannot have a better outcome "because people there are more resilient to coronaviruses". Now an obedient culture could be conducive to a better outcome with a leadership that is obedient to science but that is the opposite of what Sen. Paul is saying.
