Enough with the conspiracy theories.

Like a child without adult supervision, Trump played with fire and got severely burned. He's not some cunning political genius. People are giving him far too much credit. The man aint that smart. His money came from his daddy, from banks, from The Apprentice, and finally from Russians looking to launder dirty money. And, he blew through ALL of that.

This damages his campaign bigly. The major question of this campaign is Trump's poor response to the covid-19 pandemic, and by contracting it himself, he proves that he cannot manage this crisis on a personal level, let alone on a national one. Even if this takes his other scandals off the table, he comes across as highly incompetent and weak.

The election is not over, but it's hard to see how he wins an election that he was already losing by huge margins. We still have to turnout and put Trump behind us for good.

3. Are you referring to the people saying Trump might be lying? Because that isn't a conspiracy theory.

It is Trump. It is perfectly plausible that he might be lying.

To discount that possibility at this late date is ridiculous.

Unless he got a couple of WH reporters and the president of Notre Dame to go along with the lie, this looks like the real deal.

It's perfectly legitimate to wonder if he's lying only if he and Melania are the only ones involved.

In light of the Barrett event looking like a super-spreader event, the argument breaks down.

Ignoring contextual evidence doesn't make a shaky argument any more valid.

out of the next debate, and saw the people around him getting sick, I don't think it is a stretch of anyone's imagination to wonder if he said, "Aha!" and got some sick guy to take his covid test for him.

Again, I'm not saying that is what I believe. I just don't believe anything he says. If he turns up in a couple of weeks fresh as a daisy, I will believe he didn't have it.

Conley most likely consulted and double-checked with other experts to confirm the diagnosis before issuing the statement.

FWIW Conley was assigned to the White House Medical Unit by the military; he was not appointed by Trump. (Jackson was assigned to the White House while Obama was president).

the virus should not, and cannot, diminish our determination to be rid of this monster. The focus has to remain on safely voting, and having those votes accurately counted. Healthy skepticism yes, conspiracies and distractions no.

I am no expert on politics. I don't even play one on TV. But I just don't really see how faking this would help him in any way. I have heard this theory of using it to get sympathy multiple times here at DU. But watching TV and visiting numerous other websites and Facebook the themes I have mostly seen run along the lines of calling him a dumb ass for not wearing a mask and chastising the people around him if they tried to wear one. IE: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes and karma is a bitch.
