I don't know about ya'll ... but aid for airlines has me spittin fireballs!
I know it's a giant industry but this pandemic is an industry changer!
Meanwhile, working poor like myself can't meet bills and the stimulus negotiations have been taken off the table?
Tens of millions of us work and are paying taxes STILL!
I can't make rent even though I work my ass off each week! Can't get a second job because so many applicants for available work I am trying to get to supplement.
I am seriously considering selling every possession (and I have already downsized to next to nothing) and saying FUCK IT ALL!
The shitshow lasting four years and turning into a super shitshow hurricane now has me at my whits end !

(34,857 posts)Airlines are already laying people off. It's a sad reality but airline travel is not like a cruise liner - it's an essential business for many. The impact could be devastating. Not just for flight attendants and pilots but ground crews, airport staff, airport business employees. It's a massive glut that could devastate millions of families.
This question was asked of Biden in his townhall Monday and he gave a reasonable answer.

(5,580 posts)As an employee of an airline.
The airlines are giant compared to little ole me and millions like me and you. They are downsizing- but maybe too big in the first place.
Helping individuals who will pump money into the economy would be best at this time.
Of course I am gonna take the blowback from ya'll. But I bet airline employees make a SHITTON more money then I do and have benefits. My point is bigger then this little back and forth.
Airlines do not deserve stimulus before the working poor!!

(7,286 posts)I used to use them on about a monthly basis for my job as a traveling physician for the IHS. As I stated, it is too risky to fly at this time due to the lengths and availability of flights

(146,192 posts)Many aspects of our society and economy need additional support during this pandemic.
All of them are important. Individuals need support, but so do crucial business sectors. Transportation is one of those.
If airlines fold, due to the pandemic, tens or hundreds of thousands of individuals who work for them will be harmed and will require monetary support as they join others whose jobs have been lost. Further, air transportation is crucial to the economy.
A balanced stimulus plan has to include all aspects of our society, not just one.
