3. Article XX, Section 1

AMENDMENT XX
Passed by Congress March 2, 1932. Ratified January 23, 1933.

Note: Article I, section 4, of the Constitution was modified by section 2 of this amendment. In addition, a portion of the 12th amendment was superseded by section 3.

Section 1.
The terms of the President and the Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin.

If Trump starts stirring up shit, the advisable thing would be to call the GOP in: if you don’t help us get rid of that SOB and put him in jail so he can’t cause any more damage, we are going to pack the next Cabinet with people you really are not going to like, starting with Hillary Clinton as AG.

Did you know it was in the constitution before you asked? Because I don’t see how you can claim you want to have a discussion when you asked a ‘yes or no’ question.

I find the site at this link to be one of the easiest ways to look at the document when I have questions about it.

Even though I have read it from beginning to end at least two dozen times, I cannot recite it word for word. So, I have the link below bookmarked in my web browser, so i can access it at any time:

When you read it, as anyone who takes part in political discussions should have done multiple times, don't forget that the Amendments to the original form of the Constitution are now part of that document, and are equal to all other parts of it. They are not just additions to the Constitution. They are the Constitution once they have been adopted.

If you missed reading the entire thing, somehow, I encourage you to do so.

Although with all of the “origionalists” on the Supreme Court who knows?

ETA: there are laws that provide for a transition period starting after the election so that the hand-over of power is smooth. The incoming president and vp start getting access to more information, prospective cabinet members and staff meet with their counterparts to get up to speed on crucial issues, etc. But with the current administration and its state of constant chaos there may be no one left to meet with and the incoming team is going to have to scramble on January 20 to keep the potential disasters in check.
