With Election Day tomorrow, basically every major city across the US has been boarded up in anticipation of post-election result riots.

(3,467 posts)In recent days crazy Trump supporters have been blocking highways, tried to run Biden/Harris campaign busses of the road, shut down Democratic rallies with threats of militia violence and more.
As I see it here are the four possible outcomes in decreasing order of likelihood:
1) Biden wins and Trump refuses to concede
2) Trump wins by obviously stealing the election
3) Biden wins and Trump concedes
4) Trump wins legitimately
It is very unlikely that either #3 or #4 will happen.
If #1 happens, Trump will call on his people to take to the streets.
If #2 happens there will be a lot of protests and right-wing agitators are going to be there to counter protest or start violence.
Trump has spent so much time drilling thoughts about the media lying to people, widespread voter fraud, and that he is going to win by a landslide into his supporters. There are people that are lapping this up and believe every word. Today is going to be a shock to them.

(5,707 posts)Let's not kid ourselves; if/when Donny loses, he's going to hunker in his bunker and encourage his cult to wreak as much chaos as possible in the hope he can cut some sort of deal to leave.
In my town several Asian restaurants and shops boarded up back when California anticipated "ANTIFA riots" and the country announced a curfew. As of Monday night, one of those shops locked itself down again.

(7,817 posts)Or on Tuesday Night? Before at least 1/2 the states have counted the last of the mail-in and Military overseas votes? Would you believe it Wednesday morning? Or a week from Wednesday?
I don't think anyone expects a final vote count tomorrow due to all the questions we have already discussed and all the challenges we've been told will arise. Of course there are those who would disagree with me...But I would have to say they are misinformed as to the process.
If anyone with the authority to do so were to declare it over in favor of the incumbent before all the states had reported and certified their counts I think quite a few people would call BS on it. They may have even more to say than that.

(13,901 posts)Im concerned the police may riot again.
Im definitely concerned there will be shootings and attacks by the magots whove been driving buses off the road and trying to kidnap governors.
Im personally not even mildly concerned about the BLM protestors, nor the womens rights protestors.
But the YLF types that want to start something and are using BLM and Antifa as cover are a minor concern.
As are the boogaloo types doing the same thing.

"I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end," he said. "Beginning on January 20th, 2017, safety will be restored."

This president will at least go down in history. There will be a whole chapter.

(5,211 posts)Are property owners boarding up shops and other places because they think Democratic party voters will lose, and loot, rampage and generally run amok?
Or is it the deplorable hordes of vanilla ISIS in major disappointment mode they fear?
Or antifa?
The proud (sad) boys?
The Tiki torch brigade?
The 17 year old out of state self appointed vigilante crowd?
The armed incels?
Bikers for Trump?
Grandmas for Biden?
The lesbian bikers for Biden?
Mmmmm?
But what if someone gave out riot invitations, and no one came to party all night?
And if there is an all night riot party, who will bring the food, the guns, the ammo, and the bandages?
Don't forget if you get injured in that (possible) riot, the hospitals are rather busy at the moment . . .
Never mind me, I'm confused. A lot of people would be, I'd say.

(7,510 posts)Any sufficiently large group of people contains aggressively destructive idiots.
This is commonly demonstrated after major sporting event wins or after contests between particularly bitter rival sporting teams.
It's not unique to the US. See for example "soccer hooligans".
In this case we have "political hooligans".

(31,318 posts)downtown has been boarding up in response to protests turning violent since George Floyd was murdered by police last May. My apartment building was boarded up again over the weekend in anticipation of a protest that didn't materialize last Friday while I was at the beach.
We've had both BLM protests and white guys with automatic weapons walking around downtown periodically throughout the summer and early Fall, without a repeat of the window smashing and fire setting that happened in May. Artists were engaged to turn the blank plywood into panels of art, and stores, offices, restaurants and glass lobbies reuse those panels when boarding up again.
This is one of those panels created to cover the windows of the coffee corner store of my apartment building
I'm hoping for a huge turnout today to break the vote totals from 2016. NC voters have already banked votes within about 200K of the total votes from 2016, with about 3 million registered voters who have not yet voted.
Let's go blue, NC and let's stay calm.
