7. On the contrary, I believe federalism (or, better, confederalism) is the only way...

...this nation can survive.

There's no point in having a "strong central government" under laws set up to make it much easier than in any real democracy for a demographically-distinct minority to achieve almost total political power through the Electoral College and a Senate that prioritizes small states over large ones.

Sure, we might win this time...but, then again, by the standards of any reasonable democracy, we should have won in 2000 and 2016 as well. Every election since 2000 has shown that national politics in the U.S. is a rigged game, and one that is likely to bite us in the ass more often than not, as long as the government chosen by such means is given such broad power over all of the country, including the majority that voted the other way. I fear we're either going to have to a) move to a more confederalist model, with most power vested in the individual states and the federal government only operating where necessary to coordinate efforts between states, b) have full-on secession and breakup, likely leading to another Civil War, or c) reconcile ourselves to a flawed system which is almost certain to give conservative Republicans majority power more often than not, even though against the wishes of over 50% of the U.S. electorate. Those are really the only options, hard as the truth may be.

They don’t actually have faith in their own platform and ability to win over the American people in a fair contest of ideas.

who only know what they DON'T like, and will harm themselves in order to "stick it to someone they don't even know".

They are gullible toddlers who are always ready to believe nonsense.

Of kings. And they put themselves as the kings.

They are anti democratic, want a stratified society, and they seek the cheapest labor possible,so they hate social programs that help the poor. They want to keep people desperate enough to sell themselves cheap.
While they bark about bootstraps.

So they would just rather burn it down to the ground...

Reminds me of the community pools that white people drained once they were ordered to desegregate them. They would rather destroy a place than let the “colored’s” enjoy it.

... by Bill O'Reilly on the evening of 9/11, so the propaganda they hear could be a part of it.

I went to work that night after getting no sleep during the day while watching the news coverage of the attacks, and I was shocked that so many of my blue-collar coworkers (generally poorly educated) didn't seem furious like me.

I took a break later that evening, and witnessed O'Reilly on the break room TV suddenly get them worked-up about it! It happened right in front of my eyes. It had a different effect on me, causing me to direct more of my anger at O'Reilly at that point.

to try to understand why. It was an interesting book, but their views and beliefs are so screwed up. A lot of it is their fanatical religious beliefs.

14. Republicans love America only for the money they can suck out of it.

They also can't seem to comprehend the necessity and value of community, both in a local and national sense.

For them, their thinking is oriented around self as No. 1, family as No. 2 and their beloved authoritartian structures in business, church and government. Hence their worship of preachers and people like Reagan, Gingrich and Trump.

Like it or not, we must find ways to connect with and influence this sector of our population in order to have a less divided nation.
