I know this is a stretch, but is there a sitting Republican Senator

from a state with a Democratic governor who would be ok to give a cabinet position to like Ag secretary or something like that, that would get us another Democratic Senator? Just thinking out loud. I mean Obama has Chuck Hagel.

4. Toomey has been a solid vote for every Trump/Republican issue all along.

Including stopping Obama’s SCOTUS nominee and approving all of Trump’s.

He is as far right as they come.

18. I know. I was hoping we could stash him in some cabinet post where he wouldn't do any harm.

And then Governor Wolf could appoint a senator. I guess there’s really no position where he couldn’t do any harm, though.

Pat Toomey and Susan Collins. You could stick them in some BS job and get another Dem Senator.

6. They would never accept. If they accept they are dead to the party and will be primaried.

Maybe if someone was planning on not running for re-election but even that is dubious.

He wants to climb higher, not take some minor cabinet spot.

He'd never accept.

She said NC and KY have Dem governors, but the Senators are no good.
Burr might be sort of okay. But then again.

So why not him? Make him something without a lot of potential for trouble. Like um, um, idk?

Just not Cunningham as the appointee. Too stupid to be a Senator.

Maybe Josh Stein or Anthony Foxx?

I understand, the governor could appoint a Democratic Senator and add to the tally, but it isn't worth it. Not a single one stood up when it counted. I would not expect them to do the right thing in the Cabinet either.
