14. Believe me, I was not being sarcastic
OTOH, I have always (since 2002) reacted poorly to random people on an interactive board who simply tell us to “discuss” a topic to which they then contribute nothing (zero, nada) in their own OP. What are we? High school students taking midterm exams?

We are all under stress. When Angela Merkel’s Armistice Day* speech makes me cry — that’s a sign of stress. *I forget what she called it
Just tell us what you think yourself, next time. Then we’ll discuss. And (ahem) I’ll only be slightly snarky. |

15. Kentucky has been like this for a long time.
Last edited Thu Nov 12, 2020, 08:36 AM - Edit history (1) Going back decades, registration in the state has heavily favored Democrats over Republicans -- not unlike a lot of southern states. It has slowly moved in the direction of Republicans, mostly because new registrations have overwhelmingly been Republican. But the totals still show more Democrats than Republicans because there is no real reason for Kentuckians who registered twenty years ago as Democrats to change their registration simply to reflect a new party preference. There are 500,000 more registered Democrats in Kentucky than there are registered Republicans -- but for decades the number of votes cast in Kentucky for Democrats has been a fraction of the number of voters who are registered as Democrats.
If we want to look as stupid as Republicans, make the argument that Kentucky really has hundreds of thousands of Democrats whose votes were suppressed based simply on the number of voters who once upon a time registered as Democrats. |

25. I just dropped Alison Greene's tweet on both Amy McGrath's and Obama's FB walls.
I don't care how long this vote count corruption's been going on. The Bob Bauer team ought to get in there and challenge the votes in all those f'd up counties.
McGrath's a veteran, and it's the least the DNC's legal team can do to get that count straight through a court battle, and maybe, at least, demand a recount. |

37. You're going to be disappointed if you think anyone will take this "evidence" seriously.
McGrath, Obama, Bauer --- they are professionals. They know the numbers. They know that past registrations don't mean squat when it comes to forecasting what party or candidate voters in Kentucky currently prefer.
Consider the following: In Ballard County, the number of registered voters increased by around 8% between 2010 and 2016, but the number of registered Democrats actually declined, while the number of registered republicans increased by around 75% (the number of independents and libertarians also increased). That trend is far more representative of the political leanings of Kentucky's voters than the total numbers, which are skewed by hundreds of thousands of registrations that date back to a time when, like much of the south, Kentucky was solidly in the Democratic camp, but only because southern Democrats acted more like today's Republicans. |

38. I hear you.
It wouldn't be too much to ask to have these numbers checked, canvass the accuracy of registrations, and let other Democrats know something. But no, I really wouldn't be disappointed. Having lived in the South, I was always way more disappointed in the silent, spiteful dishonesty of Southern govt leaders who create perpetuate a climate of exclusionary provincialism.
I only posted to their walls to show that people in the country would like to know about this. And I don't trust that the DNC actually does as much as it can to verify voter records, or why would Greene see these numbers on actual county records and received no reasonable explanation for them. |
