66. I don't trust exit polling because they don't show how they get their numbers, or where.

"this year’s exit polls include data from telephone interviews with a representative sample of people who voted early or by mail. In all, the national exit poll includes interviews with 15,590 voters.." which are chosen how? Polling has become inaccurate.

68. Having looked at total voting, @ 67%, accounting for race, your assertion is inaccurate.

Given that whites are @72% of eligible voters, 72% of 67% would be 48.2% and half of that female would be 24%. Total eligible voters-100%, 72% of 100%-72%-half are women-36%. Statistically-approximately 12% of white women did not vote.
So if you want to assert that 55% of WW who voted, voted for DT based on exit polling data and phone calls, which have not been proven accurate, feel free.

They polled those voters by phone. It does suggest accuracy issues but the data is not just those who voted on November 3rd.

https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/exit-polls/president/national-results

At the top of the page it says:

Exit polls are surveys of a random sample of voters taken as they leave their polling place on election day. Absentee and early voters are represented by either telephone polls or in-person exit polls at early voting locations.Pollsters use the results to assess the makeup and opinions of the electorate.

47. That definitely makes more sense

Because we know the lion share of Trump's supporters were included in the in-person, November 3rd count. With that in mind then the 55% white women stat makes more sense. Same with the 18% AA males and 4-8% shift of AA women.

What we need for a more accurate scan is the %'s on the whole vote including all those mail-in/early votes because they should skew decidedly more Democratic. We've seen proof of that during the various recounts, how Trump's lead was consistently whittled down.

I'd like to see that further analyses before coming to any conclusion.

Every white female coworker, except one, at my previous workplace was a religious Republican-type. Not all of them expressed their support for Trump, but it was pretty clear even for the quieter ones. (The company was in a very red area.)

Edit: Many of those co-workers lived in rural areas and their educations were horrible, especially in science. I have a degree in math with a high IQ, but I usually have to work in blue-collar settings because of low demand for my degree unless it's a minimum of a Master's. (I "went for it" years ago and got burned due to financial circumstances.)

They voted in force yet again, comprising about 42% of white voters despite not being such a high percentage in everyday life.

Married people also voted far more strongly for Trump, as did white people with children. I figured that I'd mention them since it gets almost no attention here. No judgements, just repeating the data.

The CNN exit poll turned out to be a good estimate of the popular vote margin of victory for Clinton in '16.

If Biden wins the popular vote by about 5% this time, I'd guess that the CNN exit poll was pretty accurate again overall.

If you compare it to 2016 exit polls. Then Hilary would be President and Biden probably would've lost this one. According to the 2020 exit poll Biden under performed Hilary in many Demographics with exception of a 1% increase in white males that's not enough to offset a 3% decrease in white women. According to the 2020 exit polls he also did worse with Hispanics, black males and didn't do any better than Hilary did with black women. He did do better among people who identified as liberals and moderates, but their not independent of race and gender so it doesn't make sense. Possible that the increase in turnout offset the under performance in key demographics, but I dunno.

Using their numbers based on marital status, for example, she won the popular vote by about 2.6%. (It turned out to be 2.1%.)

https://www.cnn.com/election/2016/results/exit-polls

Doing the same this year, the estimate is a Biden popular vote margin of over 4%.

This was based on exit polls and most Democratic women voted by mail or drop box. The number is skewed heavily toward republican women who voted in person on election day.

It is not representative of all white women. I am a white woman and every white woman that I know (ok w/ the exception of my mother and sister) hates Trump and voted Biden. Of course I live in a blue city in a blue state, but I still say that number is bullshit.

What is the better number? The fact is the exit polling is NOT done by someone standing outside a voting precinct. It is done by calling a sample of people who have already voted -- which would include early votes and mail votes. It is not perfect but I want to know what the better number is and where THAT came from.

61. Protests, rioting and looting

You can thank the protesters, looters and riots for all the down tickets losses ... I saw people getting drawn to Republicans who I never thought would vote for Trump by.

And every time I mentioned it here before the election someone flagged by post and it was deleted ... ignoring the truth didn't change it.

The douchebag Republicans presented a better narrative, the average person saw Republicans backing the police and Democrats backing the criminals ... it's really that simple.

I saw a large cross section of blue collar workers become angry by people who were not working but had time to spend weeks protesting while others were looting and rioting, and I saw it first hand not in just one factory but every single one that I visit.

This election should have been a complete blowout, but that was the factor that kept Republicans relevant, and still is.

And it doesn't matter if they are wrong, it is what happened, it could have been avoid and should have been avoid.

And the places that had the worst protests didn't see big losses.

Basically your entire argument is that the average person is a complete idiot with no critical thinking ability and is completely detached from objective reality.

How dare people actually want police to stop murdering black people... That's what Republican voters are upset about.

64. How did ANYBODY vote for Trump? Read today's Letters page in the LA Times...

The Letters editor decided to devote the entire page today to their plaintive wails that they are not racists. That they are simply voting their wallets, and that (their) religious freedom means everything to them, and that he is protecting the unborn, and other countries need to pay their fair share, and he’s good for the country...

They self-identify as male, female, white, black — well, you get the picture. Something from every demographic in America. 70,000,000+ voters.

So deal with it. As a white woman and lifelong Democrat, I’m sincerely sick of reading that “white women” are at fault for having brought us Trump in 2016.

Just deal with it. Every single city, town, village, rural grange, university, community college, church, synagogue, neighborhood, and family has Trump voters within it.

This is a nationwide malady.
