Secret Service protection for former presidents

I guess that applies to impeached presidents and loser presidents?

Is that a law or a "norm"? If it's a law, can that law be changed? If it's a norm, well, fuck it, then, he's on his own.

Can you imagine being on his detail, what with 130 Secret Service officers with Covid and in quarantine? I think a walk-out would be understandable.

At the very least, I would think that indicted former presidents should kind of lose their Secret Service protection.

Should we change the law? A President who has been impeached but not convicted, such as Bill Clinton for one example, does not receive protection after leaving office? A person needs to hold office for two terms to be entitled to protection?

Only one reason I can think of, but that can’t really be it, right?

That’s a horrible reason!

I've heard that immediately upon leaving the number of agents involved is about 10. Field offices can get involved with advance planning for trips and the like. Trump can decline or modify the protection at his discretion. Nixon later in life got rid of his and just hired his own body guard.
