A weird thing has been happening to me, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one. After I contributed to the Ossoff and Warnock Senate campaigns in Georgia, I started getting texts from the campaigns of their GOP opponents asking me to contribute to them! The first couple I just deleted and blocked the numbers, but they have kept coming, so I am now replying STOP, then deleting and blocking.

The thing is, I can't figure out how these weirdos got my contact info, let alone thought I was someone who might consider contributing to them. I'm used to getting the occasional random text or email from Democratic candidates, but Republicans?

I'm NOT upset about this, just nonplussed and bemused. It's just one of those weird things that make you go "WTF?" Has this happened to anyone else?

1. It's what happens when you donate. You often include your contact information and then

I should not be on any hit list of theirs. That's what's so weird about it!

Problem solved.

But where you have the spirit, follow link and donate.

I've donated $2200 this cycle....so far.

I use ActBlue all, the time, to contribute to DEMOCRATS. I know I'll get emails and/or texts from any campaign I donate to, and I don’t mind that. What I DO mind is getting texts that say, "Stop Chuck Schumer from taking the Senate!" I have never donated, to any Republicans, those people have NO business asking me for money, and I don't want to see 💩 like that on my phone, lol!

I'm in Illinois, and I've never donated to any Republican campaign, ever. I agree that it seems dodgy.

I got one more today from Perdue's campaign (eaww), but other than that, it seems to have stopped. At least for now!

7. What site or link that you made the contribution through?

You should only go to the Democratic candidates’ official campaign websites to start the process. Anything else is dicey. Hopefully you didn’t contribute to a Republican leaning group, that would explain why the two republicans are asking you for money now.

Don’t get tricked by links that look familiar. Lots of scammers change just a tiny thing and that passes as a allowable website, but they can be leading you off course.

I donated at GASenate.com, the site Stacey Abrams has been promoting on her various TV appearances. Contributions there are divided among the Ossoff and Warnock campaigns and Fair Fight, Stacey's organization that works to protect voting rights. I hope the Repugs haven't hacked into the site or anything like that.

Worked for me. I was surprised, but when I sent them the message, they sent me one saying that I was unsubscribed and I never got another email from them. Try it.

That's weird. I've donated to numerous campaigns and have never received emails from opponents. I've received tons of emails from other Democratic groups though.

16. I think the text messages from the Republicans are just a coincidence

I'm getting emails from both sides, but haven't contributed to anyone.

Often those phone numbers in those databases are not accurate. I would not be surprised if they are actually trying to text someone else, but the database has your number in it.
