Shit. "Report: One member of State Board of Canvassers will vote against certifying election"

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- After a contentious process and election cycle, the State Board of Canvassers will meet Monday to certify Michigan’s election results.

At least one person on the four-person board is expected to vote against certifying the election results. CNN reports that Norman Shinkle has told Michigan Congressman Paul Mitchell he plans to vote against certifying the election results in Michigan.

The board is made up of two Democrats and two Republicans. Shinkle reportedly told Mitchell that he would wait to certify the results until some sort of investigation was completed. Republican leaders have asked to delay the vote by two weeks to look into “irregularities” in the election.

The outcome now largely rests on the decision of Republican board member Aaron Van Langevelde. Van Langevelde has declined to disclose which direction he is leaning.

In Michigan have already voted to certify the results (as they have in most other states). I'm only aware of the two in the Detroit area who initially voted not to certify (but isolated votes against would not necessarily make national news, as long as at least one R in each jurisdiction voted to certify).

I have a lot of experience with election officials, from both parties. This behavior is so far outside the norm for individuals involved in the actual process of voting and counting the ballots that I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around it. In 100% of my last experience, the partisan tinkering was directed toward limiting access to the polls - voter roll purges, limiting voting hours, requiring "real" ID, requiring street addresses. The partisan advocacy stopped once the voter had established the right to vote.

Does he face any penalties if he breaks the law? I'm hoping his legal knowledge means he'll do the right thing despite pressure from other Republicans. He has to know they haven't had any evidence to show in court regarding fraud, and he knows what that means.

'win' to Trump. No matter what a Court will order them to do their job and / or certify the election under Michigan law. Also, the Governor can fire those board members and appoint different ones.
