Yes, this win is unbelievable and we must celebrate like it's 1999 all over again. However, let's not deny the reality and the exit polls of the 2020 election.
Fact: The democrats lost a lot of seats that were gained in the 2018 "blue wave".
Fact: 50% of republican voters don't believe that the election was fair.
Fact: 90% of those who willfully voted for Trump and most of his biggest supporters think the election was rigged.
And those people are damn pissed off. When Biden takes office in 2021 we cannot ignore the danger that these people are causing - they will threaten him and they will threaten us. We must perceive them as a threat. They cannot be ignored. Because ignoring them, like we did in Obama's second term, is what got us here in the first place.
We ignored the threat they were posing back in 2012 during the heyday of the likes of Infowars, Breitbart, and Glenn Beck. But we cannot make that mistake again. Trump may be out of the White House, but he's not going away quietly. Expect him to get louder and angrier than ever before. Expect his MAGA rallies to become even more unhinged. And if the MAGAs want to ditch the conservative propaganda network of Fox and Limbaugh for crazier news sources like Newsmax and OAN, and their social media confines of Twitter for Parler, let them go. They can circle jerk on Parler all they want.
But that said, they could pose a huge threat to Biden's presidency and he's only just getting started. It's going to be a rocky road before it's smooth sailing. The MAGAs must be watched like hawks until then. Time to turn my tin foil hat off now.

(5,222 posts)It'll likely take several operations to completely remove it. Even if we get it into remission if we let our guard down it can grow back stronger than before.
Remember the mid terms of 2010. We had all three branches of government. We got over confident and let our guard down. Millions of us stayed home and the r's captured the House and the Senate. Things have never been the same.
We have a lot of work to do, beginning in Georgia in January.

(5,121 posts)It should be a $25,000 fine every time someone spits our propaganda or dis-information as FACTS on a NEWS show or like Giuliani out on the steps claiming to have "proof" but walking inside the courthouse saying, "I got noting, your honor" so he didn't get thrown in jail.
If you are presenting "NEWS" to the public or announcing information about a legal battle, you MUST stick to the FACTS or state you have an opinion that may or may not be fact based. Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it is informed or full of BS.
BUT America can NO LONGER TOLERATE the SPEW that passes for FAUX NEWS (and even FAUX has called fowl upon occasion and turned away from bald faced lies a few times recently.)
So every BS Tweet from the tRumpinator, $25,000.
Every pasty political hack updating on the situation that has gone to the courts that states "we have proof" that is based on empty pages, films from 2018 or lawsuits that have been overturned for lack of evidence should be fined $25,000 for every instance.
It's still a slap on the wrist in some ways, so also a NEWS agency that violates the Truth in NEWS CASTING rules can lose their license to present NEWS programs and be forced to call themselves Talk Shows or the like.
IF YOU CAN'T STICK TO THE FACTS, YOU CAN'T CALL IT NEWS.
