5. I Would Have Thought Him A Good Choice...
...for HHS. Lots of damage to undo there after 4 years of that senile buffoon Carson.

6. Carson was HUD - where he left h is mark
Either would be good fits for Buttigieg.
Pete is incredibly smart and would have fit anywhere. HHS may have been a learning curve for him, but he would do it. |

7. Thanks For The Correction
Azar is HHS. My mistake.
But, I wouldn't worry that much about the learning curve because PB strikes me as someone who can ID the right experts to be close at hand. He sets direction based on JB's vision, and let's the experts do their thing unlike that know-nothing know it all Azar. Same applies at HUD. But, there's more clean up needed at HHS. Carson was rotten. Azar was epically rotten. |

4. Most of the other (viable) candidates are in important offices
For example, we can't afford to lose the Senators. Yang wants to run for NYC mayor by all accounts. Swalwell is on the intelligence committee, etc.
I think the only person of note who's not being tapped (so far) seems to be Beto. But he may have his eye on a statewide office in Texas. We're not really privy to the thinking there. God, I couldn't even remember all the candidates and had to look half of them up. It's been a long year. |

8. Exactly.
High profile people, like Senators, don’t necessarily want to move to a cabinet position. And even if they do, we often need them in their elected role due to the political expediency of naming a replacement by an opposition party governor or the difficulty of winning a special election.
Too many folks fantasize about their first love candidate from the primary landing a high profile role in the new administration without taking into account the political pitfalls of vacating their current positions. Kamala was my first choice in our primary so of course I am thrilled she made VP, but Warren was my second choice and I recognize that she serves our country and our party best as a Senator. |
