CNN:House Democrats discussing quick impeachment

CNN reporter just said Democratic leaders in the House are discussing ways to force President Trump from ofice, including a quick impeachment -- without committee proceedings. This would mean bringing a vote directly to the House floor.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly open to a quick impeachment if Pence does not take steps to invoke the 25th amendment.

Reporter Jim Acosta says sources tell him the vice president thinks using the 25th Amendment is unlikely to succeed.

Now that they are in charge.

If they are in the process of conviction, they should continue the process even after January 20th. Would that be legal? Is it forbidden in the Constitution?

The Georgia elections are certified. Loeffler has conceded, but Perdue has not, and could still request a time-consuming recount (though that option might expire soon). Still, there are administrative tasks to be completed.

Until Warnock and Ossoff can be sworn in, Mitch is still in charge.

As for impeaching after he leaves office, that question has never been answered, but it’s iffy.

There is no automatic recount at this point in time, so it should be verified rather quickly, I would think?

Thanks for reminding.

Our only hope is that in this moment, there are enough Republicans willing to convict. But that still requires McConnell to allow the process to proceed, quickly. I don’t have high hopes for this impeachment succeeding in time to prevent more chaos in the next days. I want him out today.

She would be the tie-breaking vote if it was a strict Party-line vote. But the Senate will change as soon as the new Senators are sworn in? I don't think that should hinder a trial from continuing?

If I'm reading that right, Pence wants to 25th Trump but doesn't have the cabinet votes? I thought Pence would be one of the people to resist that option

Make the Republicans go on record. If they vote no, they will let the world know that they are traitors to democracy and condone insurrection.
