A leading figure of the Seattle chapter of the Proud Boys is the latest member of the far-right group to have been charged in connection to the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
Is that next round of stimulus payments coming in April? Suddenly, it could be a lot sooner. Assuming something works out in the Senate. On Tuesday, February 2nd, Senate Democrats decided to move ahead with President Joe Bidens $1.9 trillion stimulus plan with or without Republican support. Youve probably seen this getting called a Fast Track, which makes it sound like the Democrats are basically ramming the new legislation through as quickly as they can. How are they doing this? And what does it mean for your next round of stimulus payments?
Right now, a big vote on Thursday, February 4, will decide everything. Heres what to know.
How is the Biden Stimulus Suddenly on a Fast Track?
The Senate Dems are using a process known as budget reconciliation. In this process which the Senate Dems pushed forward on Tuesday by opening a debate on a budget resolution for the 2021 fiscal year through a vote the Democrats can pass the plan with a simple majority (which requires just more votes than the other), rather than a super-majority (which requires at least 60 votes). It also avoids the filibuster process, which is a great thing because the bill wont be killed. Well know if Senate Democrats are serious about using budget reconciliation by Thursday when they hold a final vote.
