Most GOP Voters Want Trump to Take the Lead

February 8, 2021 at 8:34 am EST By Taegan Goddard

A new HuffPost/YouGov survey finds a 74% majority of Republican and Republican leaning-independent voters say Republican officials should follow Donald Trump going forward, compared to 26% who want to see them go in a different direction.

The news is all agog over the GOP shunning Trump somewhat, that could not be further from the truth. Trump is the GOP, he owns it and is going nowhere.

I honestly would have figured that maybe 50-75% of Republican voters were still in Trump's thrall, but not rep. leaning Independents. All it takes for the next election is for all the voter suppression tactics to be successful and we get Trump or someone worse again.

But, after having lived in rural America for a couple of years, I am not shocked. The people around me are BORED ... terribly bored. They seek out drama. They even create drama because their own lives are, quite often, hopeless and meaningless.

The vibe in the cities is very different. Urban people generally prefer to minimize the drama in their lives because there’s too much drama all around them all the time.

promising disaster to Republican establishment leaders in 2022 and 2024 if the rabid orange tiger they're desperately trying not to fall off makes it that far.

Can't recall if that is the exact words of the quote, but we can't let our guards down against these Conservative assholes.

But that's small comfort given how high that number is.
