I Bet If Some Repug Senator Suggested That They Impeach Obama Today Post Presidency That,,,,,,

the Repugs would come up with some rational as to how and why they could impeach him now that he's been out of office for over 5 years.

They're gonna hide behind the excuse that you can't impeach Tr**p because he's no longer the president - but if they were to attack Obama with impeachment now - they'd find a way to justify it.

doubt about his birthplace, they must err on the side of the Constitution which they carry around in their right pocket, with the bible in their left.

A few weeks into his presidency Obama was attacked by the right for using dijon mustard on his sandwich. Surely this is impeachable.

The Republicans wanted to impeach Bill Clinton over the Marc Rich pardon...and that entire process would have had to happen after Bush's inaugural because Clinton signed the pardon the morning of January 20, 2001. They lost interest probably because Republican presidents had pardoned even worse crooks than Marc Rich, and Trump has pardoned people who made Rich look like an honest man.

I suspect a large part of the reason they don't want this impeachment to go forth is, if the Democrats call witnesses, it will soon be very obvious that several GOP Members of Congress are neck-deep in this. And if any of them have ever read the Constitution, they might have recalled reading Article I, Section 6..."They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same. (This allowed the Minneapolis police to haul off Larry Craig for cruising an airport men's room.) Since the Capitol Insurrection qualifies as both Felony and Breach of the Peace, they have no way to stop being dragged out of the chamber in irons if they can be officially tied to this.
