NEW: Confidantes say Donald Trump's plan to keep teasing a 2024 run is at least in part meant to make state or federal authorities think twice about issuing indictments he could cast as part of an attempt to keep him from reclaiming the presidency.

The very convenient personal reason why Trump actually wants to run in 2024 | Andrew Feinberg
According to sources close to the ex-president, his reasoning at least in part leads right back to the court cases waiting for him now he’s a private citizen

Both are valid reasons. Makes it so important to get indictments asap. OnDoutside Feb 2021 #2

I doubt that many members of the Republican Party will stick with a loser.

Then again, there are still sycophants lapping up the Merde de Lago scenery or giving US the Ted Cruz version of "I don't really care, do you."

is not going to not seek and indictment because Trump might run.

He is delusional if he believes that.

Might even emphasize the need and accelerate the process.

He wants the publicity and the money ... not in that order

It all feeds into his "Dems are scared shitless of me and desperate to stop me even if they need to break the law" schtick...

He will announce a run soon... and then bail before '24 and support the best ass-kisser.

Since Republicans accept any amount of lying and rotten behavior as long as it's by someone with an R behind their name, the Republican Party has effectively become a sanctuary for criminals. Try to charge them with their crimes, and they'll cry "political motives," regardless of the evidence.
