NEW: Confidantes say Donald Trump's plan to keep teasing a 2024 run is at least in part meant to make state or federal authorities think twice about issuing indictments he could cast as part of an attempt to keep him from reclaiming the presidency.

(13,142 posts)Since Republicans accept any amount of lying and rotten behavior as long as it's by someone with an R behind their name, the Republican Party has effectively become a sanctuary for criminals. Try to charge them with their crimes, and they'll cry "political motives," regardless of the evidence.
