Can't vote for an AG who might actually treat white supremacists as TERRORISTS, now can we?
Glad he got out of committee and will be confirmed by the Senate soon - he has a lot of work to do.

(62,343 posts)Surprised Grassley voted for him after what he did to Garland in 2016.
Guess Grassley was just following orders like the good Nazi he is.

Assley (the ranking member); Lindsey; Cornyn; and Tillis.
15-7 vote, in all.
Frankly, I'm surprised ANY Repugs voted for him.

(21,526 posts)That's what it's all about for him: the stink.
Sulfur, in his case.

(17,972 posts)Kennedy, Blackburn, Cruz, Hawley no surprise. Garland may be on the tail of a couple of them.

(3,048 posts)He seemed as rational as I expect Republicans to be during impeachment. And I fully expect Blackburn, Cruz, and Hawley to be subjects of an investigation. Blackburn tends to fly under the radar, but I'll bet she's hiding dirt somewhere.

(17,972 posts)He plays that good ole boy, shucks to the point of being ridiculous. Democrat turned Republican. Probably could not win in La.

(3,048 posts)Didn't know he used to be a Democrat, but you're right...going to the dark side was probably the only way he'd get elected in LA. Which is pretty damned pathetic. He's the same man...what difference does that damn letter after his name make? Not sure what's happening down in that part of the country, but an awful lot of people there just don't seem to have critical thinking skills. I mean, in Alabama, Doug Jones barely beat a child molester, and just lost to a guy that used to cheat as a coach. Seriously, don't get it.

(11,535 posts)Especially after Jan. 6, right up to....well, now, really. I'm sure the R's aren't happy with the state of affairs, but I'm reasonably satisfied. Several more seats in the House and even just a couple in the Senate would be better...but I'd rather be young, rich and good-looking, too.
You do what you can do, gather good people around you as you're able, and hope for the best.
Mr. Garland is certainly one of those good people, from all accounts. Pretty centrist for the tastes of many, Democrat and Republican alike, though. But I think there is some truth in the old adage that, if you're getting pushback from both sides, you're probably doing something right.
