Here's my letter from Marsha Blackburn. Have at it, DUers.

I wrote to her after the impeachment trial to tell her she voted the wrong way. This is her reply:

March 4, 2021

Dear xxxx,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the second impeachment of Donald Trump, and for providing me the opportunity to respond to your question. Having a conversation on issues that affect Tennesseans is an important part of my work to represent you.

On February 13, 2021, I voted to acquit Donald Trump of the charge laid out in the article of impeachment by the House of Representatives. In regards to this vote, I had serious constitutional concerns with an impeachment trial of a former president, as well as the unacceptably rushed process by the House of Representatives in drafting and voting on the article of impeachment. Additionally, my decision for acquittal was reinforced by the ambiguity of the charge, which failed to include a specific criminal code that had allegedly been violated.

The Constitution makes clear: "The President, Vice President, and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors". The House impeachment managers failed to meet this clear standard, and the full Senate found Donald Trump not guilty.

Rather than proceeding with an unconstitutional trial, the Senate's time would have been better spent debating targeted COVID-19 relief for struggling small businesses and families. I appreciate your thoughtful comments and am hopeful you will continue to contact my office on issues of concern to you. Please know that I value your input as the Senate turns to other matters affecting the lives of Tennesseans and the American people.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. If you would like regular updates on my work for Tennessee, please sign up for my weekly newsletter or follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Sincerely,

Marsha Blackburn
United States Senator

Am I in the Twilight Zone? I sort of remember that a bunch of constitutional scholars said that not only was it constitutional, but there was precedence. Her degree is in Home Economics. Yet she's somehow more informed than lawyers who have studied this issue. I am so sick and tired of these hypocrites.

You know damn well that no Democratic president could have gotten through the first day with some of the bullshit MF45 got away with, and they continue to kiss his ass.

Meanwhile, the shit about Covid-19 relief ... when they refuse to do anything to help people???? Do they really think we're that stupid? Well, in TN, apparently we are because the majority elected her.

1. Your response should be: MB, please take your head out of your ass - or Trump's - whatever

the case may be. Trying to talk to someone like her is like trying to have a discussion with a rock.

2. Was thinking of doing that.

And reminding her that there is a Covid-19 relief bill right now that every GOP Senator will vote against.

I actually think a discussion with a rock might be less frustrating.

5. Clearly, Tennessee votes for that.

They would vote for a dirty piece of toilet paper if it had an R beside its name. And our "representatives" aren't as clean.

This state is so pathetic. Most people don't pay any attention at all but they still vote. I know people who actually think MF45 gave them the stimulus money out of his own pocket.

13. Just delusional, and it is so sad because Al Gore represented the state as a Senator before

becoming VP

4. She definitely would love Trump to talk "Locker Room" to her.

And, maybe move on her like a B***h.

6. I'd say so.

She is all in for him. I'll never understand it. He has not one redeeming quality. Not one!

I haven't gotten around to writing back, but I do plan on asking how often she has to practice those lies.

8. Ask her what she is doing to help her constitutents

get COVID relief? Guess she is too wrapped up with more pressing concerns such as the reputation of the poor Neanderthals. Maybe ask her to do her damn job.

10. OMG I was definitely going to go there!

And the fact that all the republicans voted against the current bill shows how much of a liar she is. She cares nothing for anyone. She is female short Trump.

I saw her being interviewed during the 2nd impeachment. Can't remember who was doing it, but they kept asking if she thought he was guilty. Her only response, which she repeated several times, was that she wouldn't comment on any ongoing stuff. And now she's saying that it was unconstitutional. At that same interview, she said she didn't like GOP meaning Grand Old Party. I'd love to send her some suggestions of what GOP really mean, but I lack imagination to think up anything.

11. You know,

if she was as good at legislating as she is at obfuscation, maybe her constituents would be getting much needed help right now.

And maybe she should quit recklessly throwing around the word "unconstitutional" because she assumes her voters don't know what it really means. She not only ignores the needs of the people she represents, she insults their intelligence as well.

If you do write her back, be sure to post it here!

12. You give her too much credit.

I doubt she knows that why word "unconstitutional" means. And, well, she does ignore the needs of her constituents, but the fact that she won an election says all you need to know about the intelligence of the majority of them.

If I write back, I might ask for suggestions after I get my draft done.

9. I have no hope of her listening.

Still, I don't think it's a bad thing to let her know we're out there and we have her number.

I feel so powerless most of the time. There's so much evil in this state going around waving flags and bibles. I guess writing also helps me think I tried to do something.
