Please join Poets & Writers on Thursday, March 25, at 7PM ET as we come together to celebrate writers with gala chair Don Weisberg, CEO of Macmillan Publishers; master of ceremonies Stacey Abrams; U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo; and special guest Oprah Winfrey.

Everyone is welcome. Please considering purchasing a ticket or sponsoring the event to support Poets & Writers’ programs and publications for writers.

During this extraordinary year, with our staff working remotely, we have been proud to continue five decades of service to creative writers. Knowing how deeply the pandemic and economic collapse impacted our community, we created an emergency fund that provided disaster relief grants to 150 writers in thirty-three states. We created a new funding opportunity for BIPOC writers in Detroit, Houston, and New Orleans—the three pilot cities for United States of Writing, our new national initiative. We developed Poets & Writers Groups, a peer-to-peer networking tool that enables writers to form, join, and manage writing groups. We awarded mini-grants to hundreds of writers who took part in literary events, and offered technical support as many pivoted to giving readings and leading workshops online. In the pages of Poets & Writers Magazine, we continued to cover the issues most important to writers, including the impact of the pandemic and the persistence of racial bias in the literary and publishing communities.

With your help, we will continue to keep writers informed, inspired, and connected in the months and years ahead.
