2. You need to carry at all times because a gun has a magic force field that protects everyone near it.

I mean, that's got to be true, because otherwise all those people are leaving the house with a tool whose main function is to kill people, right?

3. One would be better off developing situational awareness and knowing where exits are.

I know where the exits are at the Walmart, Kohls, Meijer's, Target, Lowes, UP Health System-Marquette Hospital, Dollar General and the local grocery store are. If not pressed for time, when I go to a establishment I'm not familiar with, I'll first find the exits.

I have a gun but I don't take it with me as I wouldn't draw it unless all avenues of escape are blocked, there is no concealment or cover, and it's a do or die situation and that's extremely unlikely to happen.

4. Does no one remember how many were actually armed in past incidents? I remember Gabby Gifford

as but one example of a LOT of those present having been armed but realizing they had no idea who to shoot and who not to.

That is emblematic of the problem.

When does a person with a gun become an IDIOT with a gun? Well, it is a damned fine line.

I am going to say your chances of needing a firearm in one are practically nil.
