Morning Blow doing Georgia voting law rehabilitation

"See, other than allowing the legislature to take over local election boards and install their own board, it's less restrictive than New York"

Fuck, might as well just be on the Retrumplicans payroll Joe.

Other blue states with similar language about water, etc. Hard to determine just how much b.s. he was throwing around. Just managed to confuse everything. Which was the point, I guess.

6. Right! in NY you can give water or anything as long as its under a dollar in value in GA you

... can't give anything AT ALL and doesn't declare value.

That's what the change was

My friend who lives in the ATL area said making it comfortable to stand in the long lines made a difference but the BIGGEST difference was that there were drop boxes on EVERY corner and people just had to put it in.

Joe Scar KNOWS how important mail in voting is ...

13. All this complaining about banning water for people waiting hours in line misses the point.

People should be up in arms about having fewer polling places in certain areas, or having fewer voting machines in these remaining sites.

14. no, it is one of several things done to make it more difficult to vote. Probably the most troubling

is having the legislature over-rule local election boards, but there is a whole set of issues, and we need to push back on all of them.

and presented them as his own.

It was the most brazen example of how fucked journalism has become in this country.

I am surprised that the ghost of Walter Cronkite didn't show up to slap the shit out of him.

The follow up commentators threw cold water on Joe’s argument following Gov. Kemp. Compared to New York? Because MLB is HQed there? Coke isn’t. That’s pure right wing pablum. Joe followed their framing.

One thing they missed was that Georgia was codifying rules changed during the pandemic but used it to make unnecessary restrictions. Transferring power to legislature. The max number of machines set to the most you can put in one location. Etc. the key in these situations isn’t just what the law says but how they allow for changes in enforcement locally - that’s where actual power exists.

Going back to what was done to throw the election to Kemp over Abrams and the history of Georgia being sued are context that Kemp and Joe purposefully ignored.

8. Joe's big exception is the crux of the matter. They choose the board, they control the outcome.

He buried it in his power point.

By controlling the board, the "wrong" votes can be tossed.

To compare it to New York is just silly. The other guy wasn't calling Cuomo asking to find votes.
