This memorial service in the Capitol is so moving. Nancy Pelosi stopping to greet/hug....

....the family of Officer Evans, and now President Biden speaking quietly to his children, touching their hands and heads.

"I don't know Billy, but I know Billy. I grew up with Billys."

It reconfirms how glad we all should be that he is President of the United States.

What he says is so universal to humanity. It shows we have much more in common then we have to divide us

And you can have the confidence and satisfaction that it’s completely REAL and totally HONEST. It’s not an act for temporary, phony, pandering, calculated, and strategically cosmetic purposes only. This is sincere. No play-acting for some photo op.

The service was very moving. However, I'm a retired TV director, and I want to strangle the pool camera operator on the primary camera. That was the worst camera work I've ever seen. That person should have been fired on the spot. It was inexcusable.

I did camera work locally for a while, and the producer was always in our ears, praising, if warranted, asking one of us to move for a certain shot, asking what the hell you're doing, or what have you. If we saw a good op, we were free to move to another position, wait for the "Thank you, 2" or "Can't use that shot, 3," or whatever your number was, then get back into position. Pretty much anything.

It could also be the director's fault. I've directed many live events, and my instructions to my camera operators was to always assume they are live, i.e. make all moves from one shot to the next smoothly as if it was live on the air. This was just one swish pan after another, as if there was zero communication. Once or twice is understandable, but this continued for the entire event. It was disrespectful. Thanks for letting me vent.
