What is it with the wrestling belt replicas?

Listening to George Floyd family attorney on wolf he had one behind him. I see football and baseball players with them btw real sports

I just looked on ebay some are damn expensive

1. As an old school wrestling fan,

my personal favorite was the NWA World Television Championship belt. Originally, it was the NWA National Television Championship which was a pretty cool belt, also.

The anderson's wore in mid 70s my fave not flashy but nice.

They had some good champions, also. Heels like Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson and faces like Ronnie Garvin and Tommy Rich.

...predate wrestling belts. Not by a lot, but I've seem pictures of Marciano with that type of belt in the late 40s. Wrestling probably appropriated the idea when they became a TV staple a few years later.
They've become so ubiquitous for championships that there is a belt for Tournament of Champions on The Food Network, and for the All-Star championship on Guy's Grocery Games!
I'm not that big on the idea, but it's definitely a thing.
