I've got a Ted Nugent story--showing what an ayehole he is

Back in the early 70s, a friend of mine was a huge Nugent fan. Somehow he got invited backstage after a concert. He went with a female friend of his who was prone to having seizures. While hanging around in the dressing room, she had a major seizure--writhing on the ground, etc. It was pretty traumatic. Ted just stood there watching and smiling. When her seizure was over he said, "Hey, that was cool! Can you do it again?" Such a flaming asshole.

where I grew up, Nugent was kind of a litmus test...if you liked Iggy, the MC5 and such, you were one of the smart ones...if you were into Nugent, you were not.

I saw Iggy solo at Bookie's. I used to run into Rob Tyner all the time when my band would play at places like Paycheck's.

I paid a couple hundred bucks a few years ago to see the Eagles just so I could finally see Joe Walsh play one of his own songs (And a bunch of Eagles stuff). If Joe had not been touring with them I would have skipped it though.

Imma just turn my pretty head and walk away.

Right about the same time. Some great acts for sure. What a great music scene this city had.

I don't think David Peel has ever been recognized as being a forerunner of Punk, but when I heard his stuff years ago I thought it was right there with The Stooges and MC5 for being on that level of confrontational.

This was just after a very young black boy was charged with murder in Flint after shooting his sister. It was a gun control interview. Nugent said, and I quote this as I remember very clearly when asked about Flint, "Well you can't talk about that because that's the jungle and those are gorillas, that's not even the real world." I wish I could find that tape, but he called black people gorillas who live in a jungle.

He's sick, he's racist, he's delusional, he's evil.
