GOP Acting Like it Wants to Be ExtinctFormer President George W. Bush warned that Republican support for the newly-launched Americas First Caucus, supporting Anglo-Saxon political positions, could mean extinction for the Republican party in an interview with Sarah Isgur and Steve Hayes on the podcast The Dispatch.
Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ), two lawmakers well known for touting conspiracy theories, have been linked to the caucus which released its first policy platform in early April.
Isgur started the segment by asking the former president if he could envision a future, three to five years from now, where he would say Im not a Republican if the Republican party adopts the caucus Anglo-Saxon traditions and laws.
No Id say theres not going to be a party, Bush replied. I know this, that if the Republican Party stands for exclusivity, you know, used to be country clubs, now evidently its white Anglo Saxon Protestant ism, then its not gonna win anything.

You know things are bad when Chimpy sounds like the voice of reason.

(13,903 posts)Of course that is what some in the GOP are bemoaning this is countering their attempt to gas light people about the true core beliefs of the right wing in the US.

(1,304 posts)But, I never thought Bush Jr was racist.
Classist, yes, he hated the poor. And since the numbers of poor POC is higher then poor whites, it could come across as racist. But, when dealing with the rich and "elite" he never seemed to care about race.
And, I think this quote from him is more evidence of that. He cares more if they are country club people than what race they are.
Anyway, whatever the case, he was still the worst president ever until the last one.

(11,092 posts)was a particularly malevolent figure (although complete lack of understanding and awareness allowed him to preside over much ... We have since come to appreciate what naked malevolence looks like) What 'the shrub' was, at a basic level, was very poorly educated and supremely untalented. (read here, probably the least intelligent president we've ever seen) In short -- may well have been a semi-decent human being -- but shallow as a parking lot puddle.
That sounds like a decent assessment in my view.

(22,911 posts)...but on a personal level George W.Bush was far from racist. That was one of the few things I was able to give him any credit for. And of course he is correct with this statement. If the Republican Party continues on its current course it may hold onto some regional strong holds, but before this decade is out, it will never again control any branch of the national government

Apparently this "new" Anglo-Saxon Traditions crap is far to stinky even for them.
