Pro golfer tests positive for COVID - apparently not vaccinated.

Jon Rahm forced to withdraw from Memorial Tournament with 6-shot lead after positive COVID-19 test

https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/31573312/jon-rahm-forced-withdraw-memorial-tournament-6-shot-lead-positive-covid-19-test

DUBLIN, Ohio -- Jon Rahm, leading the Memorial Tournament by 6 strokes, was informed following Saturday's third round that he tested positive for COVID-19 and was withdrawn from the tournament.

Rahm, 26, had tested negative every day, but his most recent test -- performed following the conclusion of his rain-delayed second round on Saturday morning and before the start of his third round in the afternoon -- returned a positive result at 4:20 p.m. local time, while he was still on the course. A PGA Tour medical advisor requested a confirmatory test on the original sample, which came back positive at 6:05 p.m., just as Rahm was finishing his third round.

Levinson would not disclose whether Rahm had received the COVID-19 vaccine. But under tour protocols that align with CDC guidelines, players who are fully vaccinated are no longer subject to weekly testing; Levinson also said that vaccinated players would not be subject to the contact tracing that Rahm was part of this week.

Levinson said Rahm was taking part in social distancing measures. Those playing with him Saturday, Scottie Scheffler and Patrick Cantlay, were subject to various contact tracing interviews Saturday night. It was unclear if they would need to be tested.

Levinson also said that the PGA Tour membership is slightly above 50% fully vaccinated.

The PGA does have some power but they let the players have a lot of free rein.

The PGA didn’t require vaccinations because “don’t tell me what to do” from the players.

Golfers are independent contractors. The tour should insist though. remember these millionaires are invincible so they think and vote mostly for Trump, so no real surprise.

He travels a lot surely mostly on private jets I’d guess but still.

Tour events went from one deep shoulder to shoulder to 3-5 deep to the melee around Phil at the PGA.

I'm so happy to go into stores without a mask. Of course, if a store or office of any kind wants me to wear a mask, I'm happy to comply.

Now, he vaults into a day 4 lead. He says he was symptomatic in April, so figures he doesn't need it.
He's an idiot, and so is Rahm.
BTW: Rahm's parents are in from Spain to see him. They couldn't come to his wedding because of COVID.
So, not only does it appear he didn't get vaxxed, but seems he didn't, then invited his 50 something parents to come to the states!
Guess he doesn't care about his parents' health either.
