19. They recently surpassed Ohio to get in the top half.

Putting two more states with their blue and red brethren.

Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota keep dropping like rocks to soon join their red brethren too.

I haven't heard about that happening here yet, but I've long thought those kinds of personal interactions would be helpful.

51.9% have had one dose. I wish we were closer to 70%.

10. I am in Alabama. I still wear mask even though I'm fully vaccinated.

Ignorance abounds. And I am in Huntsville which is one of the few un-ignorant cities in the state.

12. And yet, a short drive outside of H-Ville are towns like Scottsboro

with genuine shady past histories... we're talking Deliverance level stuff.

Note: Said fondly. I spent 2 weeks in H-Ville years back working on a project with a sister company. Took off a weekend to watch a Tide Game. Really like the deep South but probably wouldn't live there.

EDIT: great location too, short drive from Nashville, Atlanta, Noog and Knoxville which means Great Smoky Mt's

Theoretically on one weekend you could catch an Alabama football game in Tuscaloosa, Sunday day game in Nashville and a Sunday night game in Atlanta. A Monday night contest in Charlotte NC.

16. Cullman is worse. But I grew up here and love it. I don't have to put up with racist attitudes.

But if I go outside my county, it's awful. Tuscaloosa is not bad. Been to several football games and never encountered a racist attitude. But Alabama is conservative. I live in a neighborhood that is a nest of old hippies. We are all heathen liberals.

21. My only visit to Tuscaloosa was stopping at a gas station...

... while wearing a Buckeyes shirt on my way to the 2015 Sugar Bowl.

Lots of young people were loitering there, glaring at me.

Then I smiled and waved at them, and it's like they were scrambling to return the favor! Big smiles and hand waves from all of them instantly!

The Alabama fans that I met in New Orleans were generally very nice and intelligent. Definitely knew their football too, surprising me sometimes when they'd mention some lesser-known OSU players.

11. Play on people base instincts

Under 25 years old, give free GameStop $200 gift cards out.

Some parts of the country, free hunting and fishing permits with vaccination.

Other parts, 10% discount on your property tax with vaccine...

Partner with Nike... announce a new sneaker. Limited Edition, given away for FREE to those who show proof of vaccine.

But I didn't understand the Amanda Lohrey thing, what does that mean?

I can't think of anyone I know who isn't fully vaccinated, but my wife does. Surprisingly, one of the people she knows is a highly published scientist. (My wife works in PA.)

Go figure...

18. Proud of the COVID response by our Dem governor in KY.

Not bad considering it's a red state. We have many counties out in the sticks with 20 to 25% vaccination rates, so lots of work yet to be done.

If only the preachers, State representatives and town mayors would quite playing epidemiologist.
