Any LinkedIn users on here
Does it seem like it’s turning into a right wing cesspool to you? It’s supposed to be a professional job site and feee of politics, but it seems like right wingers turn everything political…it seems like everyday I am deleting connections (which I made in a professional setting) because they are either liking or responding to some MAGA crap…it’s become like Facebook

1. I have noticed the same thing. I just stopped using it.
Everything republicans touch is destroyed.

2. Yeah LinkedIn is magaisis infested
It is true! The rw talking points start with a post-humous post about some military hero; then the comments start with references about standing up for the flag, veiled threats against blm, and on and on with all the typical rw hate filled talking points..smh

6. I hadn't noticed that myself
but then my LI contacts are all from non-profit healthcare provider staff. Not surprising to hear this, unfortunately. Democrats tend to cautiously float hints until they determine the political leanings of others, while Rethugs tend to hammer their talking points regardless of who's listening.
Welcome to DU! |

23. Good points about this difference between Dems and Rethugs!
I never thought about it that way before, but I agree with this observation.
I think Dems tend to actually want to avoid accidently offending people, and we also don't want to set ourselves up to be attacked. Basically, we're not looking to start a fight, whereas some Republicans always seem to be looking for one! ![]() |

22. Yep
It is true! The rw talking points start with a post-humous post about some military hero;
Yep, this is exactly why I made my OP….just saw a post on Ron Desantis on my feed as soon as I logged on….it was him in his navy uniform and how much of a hero he was |

7. Not really to be honest
I haven't seen anything overly political on there, although pro big business articles obviously tend to lean right and advocate for the crap they want.
But the general tone is positive about the economic future, even since Orange Cyst was cut out. |

19. You are right
And unfortunately a lot my “professional” connections seem to be right wing types probably because of the industry/work I am in military/federal government/contractors

11. Not so much.
My group is academics so you do not see a lot of crazy capitalism or die people. Friends have noticed it, especially those in insurance and finance.

12. I'm not seeing it as much
But due to my scope of work - it tends to be other individuals who are operationalizing regulations. The Trump Admin turned the Global Trade Community against the GOP with their business killing 301 tariffs.

13. I saw a lot of it
But I left it when I retired from the recruiting business. I think I had some 10K contacts.
Some of the posts in the general feed were just appalling, promoting right-wing opinions. |

I was in a flash-fiction writing group so that change was an existential threat and we quickly moved to Goodreads.

15. As with any network, your feed is only as good as the people you associate with.
My LinkedIn feed isn't that bad. Mostly stuff related to work, though I work in a creative field full of liberals.
But yes, some people will post that crap everywhere they can. I'm choosy about who I let into my circle and aggressively mute people who post crap. I also report any post that is overtly racist or derogatory. To LinkedIn's credit, some of it actually gets taken down. |

21. I do that for Facebook and Instagram
I'm choosy about who I let into my circle
I do this for Facebook and Instagram, but would have assumed that I could connect on LinkedIn with a work colleague or someone I meet in a professional setting without seeing their political crap |

20. No
It’s literally on my feed as soon as I logon…but it’s probably because of my connections who tend to work for military/fed government/contractors….I think I meet a nice reasonable person in a professional setting, I know that they are probably Republican so I would never friend them on Facebook, but think to myself “there is no reason we can’t be LinkedIn connections, since LinkedIn is supposed to be different”…but then they post crap that I would expect to see ok Facebook
