'The View' ladies were 'at their wits' end' before Meghan McCain's exit

It’s the worst kept secret that Meghan McCain was not a favorite among the ladies at “The View.” But sources tell Page Six that she became so insufferable that even “chill” Whoopi Goldberg could no longer take her.

“Everyone was at their wits’ end — even Whoopi, and she’s the chillest of them all. Whoopi is never going to advocate for anyone to get fired. She’s not about that, but she was very clear that she no longer wanted to work with Meghan,” a source told Page Six.

The source quipped that part-time conservative co-host, Ana Navarro, “probably drank so many goddamn margaritas” to celebrate McCain’s announcement last week that she’s leaving the show at the end of the month.

Sources told Page Six that Goldberg, Navarro and Joy Behar all voiced that they no longer wanted to work with McCain. One source said, “It happened as soon as [new ABC News president] Kim [Godwin] came in. It was right after Joy and Meghan’s huge [on-air] blow up [in May] where the network called an emergency meeting. They told new management, ‘We don’t want to work with her anymore.'”

The source added, “Whoopi was clear that she didn’t want to work with her either. There have been so many well-documented issues, and [Meghan] has not made a good impression on new management,” the source said.

Another insider added, “[The hosts] all came with complaints to Kim about Meghan.”

Then she can write a (supposedly) tell-all book about how she got "canceled".

Then after all the whinging, gnashing of teeth, and milking of sympathy and cash by telling everyone she got "canceled", she can tell us how leaving the show was the best thing for her. It wasn't her, it was them. But now she's ever so much stronger and a better person for having been persecuted by those mean liberals.

Or something along those lines.

She claims to be "the only conservative on mainstream TV," tragic victim of horrible liberals out to get her for being the paragon of Conservative Values.

A raging narcissist (literally everything is about her), interrupting, long word salad arguments including the latest nutty right-wing talking points. Liberals are late-abortion loving (murderers!) anti-military anti-police gun-haters and the Democratic Party is radically left-wing. She had to be constantly reminded that late term abortion is rare and all of her co-hosts have family in the military. It was if she couldn't even listen to her co-hosts who have many different opinions, both conservative and liberal, like most people. It got worse and worse until the lack of respect was pretty shocking, and everybody knew she was repeating what her husband told her to and got snippy about topics other than politics.

She isn't even representative of conservatives or Republicans, took her until this year to half-way admit that the Republican Party is the party of Trump. It's uniquely Meaghan Me Me Me World, which isn't useful political commentary. Until the head of ABC changed recently and she didn't have protection anymore. Finally, co-hosts had input and somebody in charge probably listened to the audience. She knew she'd have to behave and that was out of the question, so the time to get out was now.

I hate to think what she's going to be like in ten or twenty years *shudder*.

a handful of times over the years and that was when there was a guest I wanted to see. It really is not my kind of program, so my impressions of McCain come from clips I've seen online. I can remember a time when she was relatively sane and reasonable. Now I wonder if she needs some kind of therapy, because she comes across as totally unhinged.

Except of course I didn't really. There's no end of ardent RW "base" types out there who want to appear more principled and intelligent than the general run but lack the self discipline, and intelligence, to carry it off.

Now I'm interested in knowing what conservative they'll replace her with. M.T. Greene has a lot of empty time on her hands but lacks the senator's daughter pedigree to help carry off her scummy behavior. Is it really needed any more?

Meghan McCain was ‘miserable’ at ‘vicious’ ‘The View’

.... “[McCain] no longer had the climate of protection she had under [former ABC News president] James Goldston,” one insider said. “When he was there, there was this sense of retribution if you didn’t get along with Meghan. She would act out, yell at the audience, guests, and fight with her co-hosts [on-air], but there was never an ‘OK, you have to get along with your co-hosts.”

Another source added: “The onus was always on them to get along with her and put up with her bulls–t.”

When Kim Godwin was named president of ABC News in April, we’re told she took a “no-nonsense” approach in shaping up the show. ....

Despite buzz that McCain — the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain — was getting pushed out, multiple sources told us that she ultimately decided to leave. And despite the hosts’ chummy on-air goodbye, multiple sources and insiders maintain the ladies “hate each other.”

…in a room full of Progressives. That’s where her so-called “power” lies.

There are other wingnut babes who do the pure sh*t minus the “Oh Poor Me”-ing with a lot more gusto. Her playing “the least conservative” on Fox gets her no live from the target audience. They’d want her gone too. If she went total apesh*t, it’d trash the supposed legacy she had as being not a total knee-jerk.

…was the show getting hijacked during her segments by her seeding DIRECT RWNJ talking points. Her plagiarist hubby running The Federalist gave her a straight pipeline to early access to what the “Propaganda of the week“ was going to be and she would hit the ground running with it on Monday mornings to seed the clouds.

The crew would be talking about one thing, and she would come in during her part and take these weird tangents to get the primary talking point she was assigned, in. It got more noticeable during the pandemic lockdowns when they weren’t in the studio together.

She’d really fly off the handle when The other ladies retorts would blow up the talking point to where her segment wound up being a waste of time.

It had to end. 🤷🏾?♂️

The whole concept of conversation doesn’t work with her. Actually the pandemic version of the show doesn’t work because crosstalk is stimulating and interesting when it works. But as it stands there a topic, the others are given turns where they at least speak to others’ points, then there’s a walled off statement from Meghan that the others might as well be taking a bathroom break during (I know I do) and they go back to the conversation. It’s like having an entitled but somewhat powerful brat at the dinner table. As I said, it’s TV poison. I hope they get lively again. I think they should have conservatives on. But pleeeeeeease find a smart one.

I assume Meghan McCain will be replace with a Conservative. I do not mind having a Conservative, but I hope she will be replace with either Ana Navarro, or some other smart Conservative. I think the biggest problem many viewers had with Meghan McCain was that she said many foolish and inaccurate things.
