The gun culture has declared war on the United States.

Second amendment sanctuaries are becoming a threat to the security of the country and government at all levels.

DOJ intervenes in lawsuit against Missouri state law attempting to invalidate federal gun regulations

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday filed a 28-page statement of interest in a lawsuit filed by the city of St. Louis challenging a Missouri state law that prohibits enforcement of federal firearms laws and subjects state and local law enforcement officers to civil suits and monetary penalties.

Second amendment sanctuaries have been symbolic only and without the force or effect of law. The US Constitution clearly makes federal law the supreme law of the land that is superior to any state or local law. It's real simple. Article VI, section 2 says in no uncertain terms the following: “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. “

However, recently the Second Amendment movement and the militia movement that it feeds is becoming a direct challenge to the very structure of American democracy. In the last year more than 1,000 cities, counties, townships, and villages declared themselves “sanctuaries” where “unconstitutional” gun laws will not be enforced.

For the most part 'second amendment sanctuaries' are just pandering to the gun nuts by bloviating politicians who would rather prostitute themselves to guns than govern. The only thing localities can legally do is withhold resources to enforce federal laws, they cannot interfere with federal or local agents enforcing those laws. The Missouri law does just that by placing punishment on anyone attempting to enforce those federal laws about guns. It is a direct assault on the Constitution of the United States.

It seems irony is not dead; gunners are citing the Constitution to overthrow the Constitution.

What the fuck is wrong with us?

3. I agree that the "punishment" part will be overturned, as it should.

But it is also true that state and local police don't have to help federal authorities which they need in many cases.

5. It's "the RWNJs attempt to troll the blue cities on santuary laws.

They don't get the distinction about immigration being a solely federal responsibility.

10. And that it was local law-enforcement that wouldn't do ICE's work

That’s not the same as hindering federal agents trying to do their job

6. They are right. Federal Law supersedes State Law.

But we have shown that when an entire state decides to take something illegal at the federal level and make it legal in their state, in defiance of federal law, it is ok.

See many states that have legalized marijuana.

So the precedent for states ignoring federal laws they don’t like has been set for the GOP and red states to do what they want in regards to a ban on semi-auto weapons. And their local red neck, small town police won’t enforce such a ban on the people they hangout with; especially since they have those guns at home as well.

And they will argue that it seems strange to refer to a weapon as a mass murder weapon, then turn around and ban it from everyone but the same police we have been protesting so heavily for years.

I guess we will see where this all goes. My guess is no red state assault weapon owner is going to lose their guns to a federal ban. But that is my guess.

7. I've heard this argument before and it's bogus.

There is a marked difference between deferred prosecution and precedent.

8. There is no precedent for marijuana laws, there are for gun laws. The 2 do not compare

12. Maybe, but there will be no new Federal bans on any guns

There will be no "assault weapons ban" that requires owners to "turn them in". It will never pass Congress and would be overturned by SCOTUS if it did. These morons in Missouri are just playing to their base because they of their need to be constantly portrayed as victims of someone or something.

13. That is true to.

If a ban actually passed now, this court would strike down all bans on semi-autos.

14. What color are your court robes? I don't have any and don't pretend to speak for or anticipate

any court ruling. I suppose it's nice to have a crystal ball or perhaps a certification in Constitutional law. I don't have one of those either, you?

15. Nope, but I can theorize.

Justice Kennedy forced them to water down Heller. He isn’t around anymore and Roberts can vote no if he wants, as they have 5 that would likely vote down a ban. Kavanaugh has already stated he believes that semi-autos are common use.

So no, I don’t have a legal degree, but I don’t need one to see where this will go anymore than one does not need to own a gun to have an opinion on gun control.
