Sinema Is Heading Back To The White House
After meeting with President Biden earlier today, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is reportedly boomeranging back to the White House, according to Politico and Fox News.
Sinema has not provided any details thus far on her conversations with the President amid her gripes about the $3.5 trillion price tag for reconciliation.

(7,265 posts)Media makes me absolutely sick. The evening of the 2020 elections I vowed to never ever tune into any "cable" news. (I actually don't have cable, I use Roku) ever again. I didn't until Jan 6th. when a neighbor gave me a heads up about what was happening.
I might have a few critical questions regarding the Justice dept. But not Biden.
I share Biden's concerns regarding Manchin and Sinema.

More people should be like bluewater, he's quite the guy, pragmatic, empathetic, and unwavering in his efforts to see the Biden Presidency, the Democratic Party, and our nation succeed.
But in all seriousness, being a Progressive, Joe Biden was not my first choice in the democratic Primaries, but once he secured the nomination and than was elected President, I have made a concerted effort to back him and his agenda to the hilt.
While President Biden's proposed 3.5T "Build Back Better" plan might not have everything in it I would like to see, I think it behooves us all as Democrats to back his agenda and get him the programs he has prioritized. Honestly, I think the overwhelming majority of Progressives, especially here on DU, have made the same commitment to support the President, so its galling when a handful of self-declared "moderate" Democrats obstruct and delay his agenda.

Sinema to hold fundraiser with groups opposed to social spending package.
BY MYCHAEL SCHNELL - 09/27/21 04:52 PM EDT
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) is reportedly scheduled to hold a fundraiser this week with business groups opposed to the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package being crafted by her party.
Sinema has emerged as a critical voice in the Senate on the legislation and opposes a package with a top line of $3.5 trillion, saying it must be smaller. Progressives have insisted $3.5 trillion should be the floor for the bill.
Sinema and progressives also have various policy differences on the details of the bill, a key part of President Biden's agenda that is also tied to a separate infrastructure measure already approved by the Senate.
The New York Times obtained a copy of the invitation for Sinemas fundraiser flanked with the senators campaign logo that is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
The invitation says the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors and the grocers PAC, in addition to lobbyists representing roofers and electrical contractors and a small-business group called the S-Corp political action committee, have been invited to the fundraiser, which is set to take place at an undisclosed location.
Attendees, according to the Times, will likely donate between $1,000 and $5,800, payable to Sinema for Arizona.
Internal battles, however, are brewing within the Democratic Party as lawmakers argue over the massive reconciliation bill's price tag and how to pay for it.
Sinema and fellow centrist Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) have been at odds with progressives over the size of the reconciliation package. Sinema has also reportedly told her Senate Democratic colleagues in private that she is opposed to the corporate and individual tax rate increases that lawmakers on tax-writing committees in both the House and Senate are looking to implement to pay for the bill's provisions on climate change, health care and other issues.

(9,151 posts)THIS IS JUST DAMN SABOTAGE -- and what's behind it is corporate whining and money tossing: big coal/oil, big pharma, US chamber - all of them MASSIVELY lobbying & bribing these "Democrats" to stall, obstruct, or otherwise stop Build Back Better from becoming law. So they can protect their massive tax-free profits at OUR EXPENSE and the expense of the planet we all depend on for Life.
I hope Joe is GIVING THEM ABSOLUTE HELL over this -- though I know that's not really so much his nature.

(7,447 posts)I think they were coy about it, and our leadership should have gotten more of a firm commitment from them before going forward.
I still blame them, but I think they didn't come out and say "we are good with 3.5 trillion."
Wounded Bear
(58,440 posts)I think it really boils down to that.
As for Manchin and Sinema, I would think that failure to support these bills will mean NO future visits to the White House and no support from the national party for their re-elections.
Time to play hardball.
