enables hiding of her recovering from cancer surgery on her left, 'under/near' her ear; hair cut/comb consequently different. No idea about her eye makeup.

But then, her appearance is not why I watch her. She's a handsome lady, but mostly I admire her intelligence.

For the record, I didn't notice anything different myself.

Aside from that, critiquing a woman's appearance is kind of gross and sexist.

So whoever the stylist is on any given day provides the “look” of the makeup.

Rachel wears glasses with heavy black frames off news-studio-camera, as well. I’ve seen her as a guest on Colbert and the like, and she looks geeky-cute in jeans, tennies, those glasses, and her hair looking like she raked her fingers through it.

Rachel, who favors a very casual look, also doesn’t wear suit jackets off camera — she keeps a small wardrobe at the office. The thing is, she is in a profession and an environment that requires a certain look to be taken seriously, or at least to not distract from the seriousness of what she is trying to convey.

So, it’s just you.

I’ve noticed that her makeup is sometimes different from one day to the next. Sometimes more on the eyes or less, or sometimes lip color, sometimes not. Sometimes it’s pretty obvious that they’re trying to cover signs of fatigue. This was especially true last summer and fall.

I notice this not to criticize but because I think she’s a beautiful woman, I am a woman who likes makeup, and I’m always interested in observing how people wear makeup. She looks amazing regardless of how her makeup is done, or if she’s not wearing any at all.

And, like it or not, appearance is part of the product or brand. If it weren’t, she’d go on the air sans makeup and wearing a t-shirt.
