Manchin Cheerfully Gives Republicans A Senate Majority

Manchin Cheerfully Gives Republicans A Senate Majority
"There's 52 senators who don't agree, okay," Sen. Manchin said, turning his back on the 48 Senators in his own party who DO agree.
By John Amato

CNN's Manu Raju caught up with Senator Joe Manchin to ask him about criticisms being levied at him by his Democratic colleagues for refusing to negotiate in good faith on President Biden's Build Back Better agenda.

"[Bernie] says you're holding up the Biden agenda," Raju pointed out.

"No, no. There's 52 senators who don't agree, okay," Manchin responded, "And there's two that want to work something out if possible in a most rational reasonable way."

WTF? Are there now 52 Republican Senators in Congress and nobody knew it? Did both seats in Georgia suddenly turn red while we were sleeping?

There are only 2 Senators out of 50 in the Democratic Party that are refusing to let the Biden agenda pass.

Doesn't Manchin understand that if he destroys these two major pieces of legislation he and Kyrsten Sinema will have no power at all when they help lose control of the Senate in 2022? Are they practicing for that time?

A rational way forward would be for Manchin and Sinema to have already negotiated in good faith with Chuck Schumer and President Biden instead of trying to turn the progressive agenda that almost 82 million American voted for into a right-wing Mitch McConnell bill.

Susie already informed us that Manchin wants to do away with all Climate change provisions "as well as turning the child tax credit into a poverty program with a work requirement."

You can't get more Republican than that.

What if there was a REAL GQP/US Taliban Party member who was a Senator from West Virginia? I mean, Manchin couldn't be worse than that GQP'er could he?

Not much to say about that Rainbow-Brite dressing, greedy, childish, faux Dem Sinema.

She IS who she IS, just like Manchin IS who he IS.

claiming you can't get more Republican than Manchin, imo that's easily the most reality-free thing I've read so far this morning, which is saying something. Every Republican senator is far right of Manchin, we all know that, and they're almost all corrupt betrayers of the people and insurrectionist traitors to boot.

Past time to wonder why Manchin ran as a Democrat when WV's a very red state.

Of course they know this. They are cashing in now and are planning to retire before their next elections.

We have to buy them off. Put in some pork for fossil fuels and pharma. SineManchin will get their cut. Make that pork conditional on getting their votes. Otherwise, whip out the Kompromat.

The question is "what for?" In Manchin's case, he intends to parlay this into a long career. In Sinema's, I suspect she's eyeing some lucrative board positions once she is tossed out.

By Mitch McConnell. They have no intention on passing Biden’s agenda. Maybe some of you are getting that now.

Same holds true for fake Democrats.

Besides, Biden has barely touched the number of judges that Trump got in.

I think it’s a trade McConnell is willing to make in order for the Dems to waste their entire time fighting with their own members.

Having Manchin and Sinema is worse politically for the Democratic Party than if they were Republicans because the GQP will just blame everything that’s bad on the party in the majority.

At this point in his presidency, five Trump appeals court nominees had been confirmed. Six of Biden's appeals court nominees have been confirmed.

And at this point in his presidency, 3 Trump nominees to the District Court had been confirmed, 20 awaiting action.Twelve of Biden's nominees have been confirmed and another 26 are awaiting confirmation.

But if you don't want all those judges, then I can see why having Manchin and Sinema in the caucus is a bad thing.

Federal judicial nominees that were confirmed.

But if judges are all you care about, be prepared to lose the executive in 2024, as well as seats in the House and Senate next year. Because that is McConnell’s objective.

Obviously there are plenty of people here not paying attention.
