I'm not anti-Garland, but have one question

Why was he picked over Doug Jones? With the possible exception of Preet Bharara and Kamala Harris, no one was better qualified to be Attorney General than Jones.

Edited to include Preet Bharara.

Nothing personal, but I don't see Kamala Harris as at all qualified to be DOJ. Boydog Nov 2021 #6

Can’t put him on the court, but he could do this.

There’s no question that he’s qualified. Perhaps one of the most qualified ever. But that wasn’t the only reason why he was selected.

Maybe he thought Garland was the best choice for a legal (rather than political) AG?

Perhaps Preet Bharara is the most qualified, I can't believe that I forgot him.

Jones would be better and more decisive than Garland but the best in my opinion is Sally Yates. Merrick Garland needs to be a bit less timid when it comes to going after Trump and his goons.
