GOP eyes booting Democrats from seats if House flips

Multiple House Democrats who are frequent top targets of the far right face the prospect of losing their committee assignments if Republicans win back the chamber next year.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has threatened to retaliate after Democrats stripped GOP Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) and Paul Gosar (Ariz.) of committee seats this Congress, warning that some liberal lawmakers "will need the approval of a majority to keep those positions in the future."

None of the Democrats singled out by McCarthy as examples of who could be removed from House committees have embraced conspiracy theories or promoted violence against their political opponents the way Greene and Gosar have.

But that's not stopping Republicans from warning of a scorched-earth environment if they win back the House, as many poll watchers expect.

We'll learn if American voters care about their democracy or even if they understand it.

We'll learn if American voters have any memories of the atrocities and corruption of the Trump years.

We'll learn if American voters have any awareness of the atrocities and corruption of elected Republicans at all levels of government.

We'll learn if American voters have any empathy for anyone but themselves.

We'll learn if American voters understand that Republicans cannot govern nor do they want to.

We'll learn if the American voters desire an inclusive or an exclusive society.

We'll learn the future of our country.

Republicans defeinitely want to gain office, but only manipulate the levers of power to favor a certain segment of society. They cry "FREEDOM!" all the damn time, but their actions show that, when in power, they do everything in they can to RESTRICT rights for all.

would allow ANY Democrats on committees? I don't.

I think they would vote for none of the Dems to have a single committee assignment.

They really are that petty and arrogant.

But 2022 isn't a done deal and they haven't won yet.
