With more and more evidence being revealed of the complicity of Trump, his acolytes, members of Congress and other "big" conservatives in the January 6th attempted coup, I believe it is inevitable that some of the PTB will start to get a little queasy about prosecuting the SOBs.
"The MAGA people will REVOLT!" some will say with alarm. "Trump's supporters just win not STAND for putting him on trial or ---'shudder'---putting him in prison!"
Really? Is this where we are---just abandoning that "nation of laws, not men" stuff we have cherished as an ideal for over two centuries?
My personal attitude about being threatened by a cadre of incel punks is "If it happens, we will deal with it". But, please, let's not allow them to intimidate us and prevent justice being served to the traitors who tried to destroy us.
If Trump and company are not held to account for their schemes to overthrow the government---turn out the lights; they will have succeeeded.

(20,864 posts)Liz has her hands on Trump's throat. She is using Meadows to go after Trump.
I have a question for all; has Trump responded to Liz yet? I fucking guarantee that Trump is scared shitless of Liz Cheney. The Cheneys I suspect have friends in high places also. Donny boy, time to get a food tester I'm afraid but don't get too paranoid, even paranoid people have enemies.

She is also doing some good in the process by getting rid of Trump and his acolytes. I can appreciate that ... for now. But we should never forget her own personal motives and loyalties.

(157 posts)The fact that Conald feared losing the Presidency so much that he attempted a coup to hold onto it means there is no option other than prosecution. The mere attempt of the coup is proof that he either believed the Presidency protected him from something dire or gave him a benefit he couldn't afford to lose. He therefore must face whatever consequences he believed losing the Presidency would expose him to AND he must be prosecuted for the coup attempt. If that doesn't happen, then even he underestimated the pathetic, weak, joke of a country he was so afraid of.

Hell yeah they'll revolt. Makes our mission even more consequential.
