2. One dose

Is not immunity. That one dose figure no longer makes sense when vaccines have been out so long.

7. And the over 18 figure is outdated as well

since we should be vaccinating children as well.

3. Yet in my county- it's MUCH lower.

We are like 61% has had ANY dose, and only 52% are fully vaxxed we’re I am. And LOTs of right-wing disinformation!

6. Which country are you in?

As bad as things are in the U.S. I should be grateful I'm not where you are. COVID-wise, anyway.
Stay safe, my brother.

4. The problem is the ignorant and stubborn anti-vaxxers among us. The virus will continue

mutating as long as there is unvaccinated fresh meat for them and you never know whether it will be a mild change or a horrible change that will overcome existing vaccines.

5. Need to get 90% of the population with 3 doses

To get this virus to go to a minor endemic problem 90% of the population must be immunized with 3 doses of the vaccine. Since the omicron variant seems to be about as infectious as the measles virus and we know that we need a 90% immunization rate to control measles.

All the talk by the media that we need more testing is missing the point. If you want to really control this virus give it no place to reproduce. Get vaccinated, now!

13. This is correct. And hard to do

Not JUST because of the vaccine hesitant. Vaccines are not approved for children under 5... that makes a big dent right off of the top.

16. Thanks for the request. So, a link and an update

The update - according to the information in the link measles requires 95% of the population to be immunized. I had previously read and heard 90%, so as you can see a very highly communicable disease requires extremely good compliance by the population. Polio requires "only" 80% immunization.

So, when antivaxxers complain about vaccine mandates ask them about their willingness to be vaccinated against measles and polio.

Anyway, the link: [link:https://www.yalemedicine.org/news/herd-immunity|]

May the new year bring some enlightenment to the foolish.

17. Great!

And the last info I heard was that omni is thought to be more communicable than measles.

11. Yeah, kind of odd.

One dose means essentially nothing.

I’d respect them more if they release the stats on those fully vaxxed. And boosted.

14. Hell, anything is encouraging at this point.

But the unvaxxed are dooming us to this rinse, repeat, rinse cycle I’m afraid.
