Marjorie Taylor Greene Uses MLK Day to Announce 'A New Segregation' for the UnvaccinatedRepresentative Marjorie Taylor Greene used MLK Day to claim there is a "new segregation" for people who are unvaccinated against the coronavirus.
Politicians across the United States honored the work of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday. But Greene, a Georgia Republican, appeared to equate the segregation faced by Black Americans to vaccine requirements in a Gettr post. "Thanks to the hard work of Rev MLK Jr. and others, growing up in Georgia, I've seen the beautiful fruit that blossomed from the Civil Rights Era, where segregation ended & equality began," she wrote. "Today, I believe we are seeing a new segregation and discrimination beginning, wrongfully forced upon unvaccinated Americans by the tyrants of the Democrat Party." She added: "Our freedoms come from our Almighty God, and we must not let any man take them away." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/marjorie-taylor-greene-uses-mlk-day-to-announce-a-new-segregation-for-the-unvaccinated/ar-AASSs6G?cvid=992a22c0c46b4b7df719fdf421dcf37f&ocid=winp1taskbar This obtuse, tone-deaf, gaslighting bigot has got to go. Being unvaccinated is not something you have a choice about, lady. Being a minority or a woman or a homosexual or a traditional oppressed and discriminated against religion are things you don't have a choice about.

1. I know her high school
which we competed against all the time. When she attended I bet there were not 5 African Americans at that school. It is South Forsyth.

3. Actually South Forsyth
is not the deep south. It is 30 miles from Buckhead. It is part of the area when she attended that was very white. It probably isn't so much today. My point is MTG has no connection to Civil rights but she is actually more of an aberration than the norm for metro Atlanta. She has less connection to the area she serves than I do.. I sold cash registers in that congressional district. She is a d fraud.

5. Still in Georgia, which IS the deep south.
Georgia was Britain's original prison colony. When they lost it, they turned to Australia.

4. MTG is a troll preaching to her warped constituents
Does anyone believe her statement about Martin Luther King has any genuine heart behind it, that she's really interested in equality? She's just thumbing her nose at the memory of MLK for the peanut gallery.

7. Yep, pure trolling, and lame, idiotic trolling, at that.
She's too stupid to understand that her analogy doesn't work.
Part of me thinks that with the "beautiful fruit" comment, she was making some warped, under-handed reference to Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit." But, then I realize that she is so goddamn stupid, she probably doesn't even know that song even exists. |

9. Discriminate against the plague spreaders?
I have no problem with that. They need to be treated like the useless shit they are.

12. Yeah I'm fine with treating them like second or third class citizens.
Don't want to get the vax? Fine. Expect to be shut out of jobs, travel, school, insurance, rental agreements, restaurants, entertainment venues, you name it. And you can huff and puff about it all you want.

10. Discrimination is not inherently wrong. Neither is segregation.
She is saying these things because both she, and her followers are ignorant and stupid. They actually understand that racial discrimination and segregation is considered by the vast majority of people to be wrong and socially unacceptable. They want to equate those two concepts with other types of acceptable and valid discrimination and segregation.
If you were running a women's domestic abuse shelter, would you hire a man with a history of convictions and current charges of Intimate partner violence as a counselor? NO. You would discriminate against him because of his history of violence against the very population you are trying to make safe. That is discrimination and it is valid and it is legal and ethical. If you were running an advocacy group for advancing the rights of Black Americans, would you hire a know and active White Supremacist on your staff? NO. You would be discriminating against that person, but for good reason. They represent view antithetical to the aims of your organization. That is VALID discrimination. When you are sick with a highly transmissible disease, you are put into isolation. You are segregated from others because you pose a risk to their health. Similarly, you can be segregated when you are immunocompromised and there is a risk of you catching a disease. When you break the law and are dangerous to society, you will likely end up in jail or prison. You are SEGRAGATED from the rest of society for the term of your incarceration. That is legal and valid. Discrimination based solely on the color of your skin, your sex and/or gender, your sexual orientation, religion, age, and other characteristics, is WRONG and ILLEGAL. Discrimination on you being a selfish asshole, is not any of those things. If you are a woman, or a Black person, or gay, or older, or whatever, and you are acting like an asshole in my place of business or whatever, I can kick you out and it would be perfectly fine because I am not discriminating against you because of who you are, but because of how you are behaving. This is what the idiot Greene, and here people are trying to conflate. You can absolutely discriminate and segregate against people who pose a health risk. |

13. Has she decided that segregation is bad, now?
Are the unvaccinated being shot with fire hoses in the streets? Are they having police dogs set on them? Are they being beaten as they try to enter cemeteries or hospitals or wherever they're marching to? Are there serious discussions being held by the powers that be as to whether or not the unvaccinated have souls or are fully human (discussions they're not allowed to attend)?
Explain it to us, Majorie. |
