NEW UPDATE on covid in the home and a plea.

Last edited Tue Feb 8, 2022, 04:36 PM - Edit history (1)

My sister and daughter have recovered well from their bout with covid but are left with lingering coughs. I truly believe that the vaccine saved my sisters life. I stayed negative through it all and think I dodged a major bullet.

Thank you all for your support and well wishes. Below is my fundraiser link for those with the ability to help but I understand that times are rough for everyone now.

Blessings all.

............................................................................

It's been a very rough couple of weeks with covid in the home.

My daughter still is testing positive well after 10 days, but symptoms are gone except for a lingering cough. My sister also did get it as well and has been sick for over a week. This has caused her to go to a covid dialysis site until its run its course. She is doing better now though but was very sick for a time.

Me, I'm still testing negative. I've quarantined myself to my room and only come out to use the bathroom and shower. My own private solitary hell with cold canned food, bread, cheese and bottled water.

Unfortunately, covid has also led to a stress related temporary disability taking me out of the job market until who knows when. Cant even leave home without panic attacks and have to rely on grocery delivery for my basic needs.

I have also been forced to apply for early Social Security and have started a GoFundMe page to raise rent and bill money (getting Snap for food already and a bit over $200 month from general relief) until the Social Security kicks in.

If anyone on DU can help out it would be greatly appreciated though I know many of you are in the same situations and state of mind.

Below is the link to the fundraiser and I'll keep you appraised of how things are going.

All of you here have been a great support and light at the end of a dark tunnel.

Thank you.

My grandson came home yesterday and said his "brain hurt" and that he was "foggy" - he had high fever so we home tested him. It immediately turned positive (well, within about 10 seconds). He is vaccinated x2 and 8 years old. We have 6 of us in the home, 3 kids and 3 adults. I'll be surprised if it doesn't infect all of us.

We were so careful - to this day we mask, social distance, are vaccinated and boosted, sanitize. If that couldn't stop this virus, I don't think anything can.

Home, quarantined.
Annette (high risk, but hoping for the best)

I was exposed to my relative who turned out to have covid but didn't get infected myself as far as I know (all my home tests were negative).

There’s a decent chance you can avoid it. My 21 y/o was home last summer, fully vaccinated but got infected, very mild symptoms I wasn’t even sure why he got tested, but he was positive. right before his fall classes started. Hubs and I quarantined with him for 10 days, small house, family of huggers (before he tested positive). Neither of us were positive and he made it to his first day of classes. Crossing my fingers you all can avoid it too!

We are hopeful that we will all be okay. My son is an air traffic controller, I work at the VA hospital and my daughter in law is a home hospice nurse - we are all three in high risk professions. the three kids are under 9 and go to 2 different schools, 2 different day/after school cares, dance and sports. LOL - all we can do is keep doing what we have been doing, we are entirely compliant with what we should be doing and actually - we never stopped or got complacent when things seemed to be getting better, mostly due to our jobs and busy lifestyles. None of us have gotten COVID (knock wood!) and I would have to say that I'm healthier than I have been in years and owe it to our taking these precautions seriously. I was a bit surprised that he got it, but it just shows that it is EVERYWHERE - if someone has it its like walking into a glitter bomb. Even our 8 & 9 year olds are double vaxed and he still got it!

I'm sitting here and my ears and lymph nodes are starting to hurt, and my nose is running. Is this just my usual stuff? (I have hypogammaglobulinemia) - Lord I hope so!!

onward!

Having stress, and my doctors pulled me out of work. So, while I have no money now, know you're not alone and I get the feeling of panic

Here's hoping you stay negative, and healing thoughts to your family.

DUers are great
