The RNC Thinks Phony Electors Engaged in 'Legitimate Political Discourse'

The censure resolution was really about defending the phony electors.
Amanda Carpenter - February 17, 2022

Most of the uproar around the Republican National Committee censure resolution that described the House Jan. 6th Committee as engaging in a “persecution of ordinary citizens who engaged in legitimate political discourse” missed the point.

Yes, it was despicable that the RNC would censure Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for serving on the Jan. 6th Committee. And yes, any plain reading of the document would leave the reader with the impression the RNC was describing the rioters as engaging in “legitimate political discourse.” That’s troubling enough. But if you look closely at remarks made last week by RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel, you’ll see something even more disturbing.

McDaniel, it turns out, isn’t that upset about hundreds of faceless Trump rubes being prosecuted by the Department of Justice for engaging in physical acts of trespass and violence on Jan. 6th. She’s pissed that RNC members are getting hit with subpoenas for participating in the phony electors scheme designed by the Trump campaign to deny Joe Biden his Electoral College victory.

Wasn't the resolution written by one of Trump's lawyers? maxsolomon Feb 2022 #2
Does it matter who wrote it? They all voted for it. The timing matters though. L. Coyote Feb 2022 #3

Romney-McDaniel simply acquiesced because she is a quisling.

How long have Cheney and Kinziger been on the committee? Long enough to make one wonder, Why now?

Because the subpoenas are targeting the Republican leaders who participated in the failed coup. And because of the criminal and civil liability the party now faces.

It is well past time for the Jan. 6 victims to sue the Republican Party and take a big bite out of their bank accounts.

It's important to know this is part of the GQP's internal struggle and that it comes directly from President Mobster's camp.

And to know that McDaniel is throwing the official party apparatus behind a statement she's too (presumably) too smart to actually believe. She's doing it because Trump has the power to impose it on the party.
